Powerful words that are not likely to win him many friends with fellow black men/ women.
I like writers that aren't afraid to give their candid opinions, no matter the consequence sometimes.

But we don't want to deal with ourselves. We take great joy in prescribing medicine to cure the hate in other people's hearts. Meanwhile, our self-hatred, on full display for the world to see, remains untreated, undiagnosed and unrepentant.
Our self-hatred has been set to music and reinforced by a pervasive culture that promotes a crab-in-barrel mentality.

+ a million to this guy for having the cohones to write this!

This is very refreshing to read. Hopefully more guys like this will put out the "REALITY" of black on black crime.

And not make it a white problem.

i kinda liked this statement in the article...

The "keepin' it real" mantra of hip hop is in direct defiance to evolution. There's always someone ready to tell you you're selling out if you move away from the immature and dangerous activities you used to do, you're selling out if you speak proper English, embrace education, dress like a grown man, do anything mainstream.

Of course there are other catalysts, but until we recapture the minds of black youth, convince them that it's not OK to "super man dat ho" and end any and every dispute by "cocking on your ," nothing will change.

Yea, but I still think that there will be a huge problem with his article because he puts his own race to blame for all this as well as the hip hop/rap music that is created by the majority of his own race as well. Then to blame it? OH GAWD NO!!!

well it is a complicated issue with no real way to fix it other than to start eliminating hate mongers like al sharpton and lewis farricon(sp?) from the public spotlight.

Nontheless, its all bueno.
I was actually shocked reading it. lol. I think its the first time I've read something along these lines.
****Look, I have my opinion and maybe tend to be a bit racists, but remember I have done time in TDC and all I heard was whitey this, whitey that. But guess who was doing the crime in prison. It was black on black crime. Hispanic on Hispanic crime. Actually, I never saw one fight, argument, or theft amongst my crowd. Man, we had nothing to do with anything in there as far as white people are concerned. I sat back and saw exactly what I have been hearing about my whole life about blaming whitey for everything. Total disgust.****
And I know there are other races that committ crimes, so slow on the gas a bit. Im just saying I'm tired of hearing the white card played over and over and over and over and over again. When, it has NOTHING to do with anything.
But, most know that anyways.
The closeset of been to that was watching a documentary on tv about crime on prison. But it explains what you are sharing with us!
