Ever hear people on here say, upgrade the rider to get faster?

Well, it couldn't be more true.

What would win a drag race between these two?

Kawi ZX-14
Kawi Concours (shaft-drive w/ saddle bags mounted)

AMA test rider was able to get to 10.62 on the ZX-14, and to show what more skills would do, Ricky Gadson hopped on the full dress Concours and did a couple of runs in the 9's.

Link to article: http://www.amadirectlink.com/news/2007/ZX14/

Excerpt:
Quote:
Drag racing is simple, right? Just twist the throttle and go in a straight line.

You only think it's that simple if you've never tried to shave that last half second off your quarter-mile time. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been on a drag strip, so I was grateful for the tips from AMA Prostar champ Rickey Gadson, above.

Then it was my turn to show what, if anything, I'd learned, by launching under the eye of the master. I'm no threat to Rickey's job, but after several runs to get a better feel for the ZX-14, I clocked a 10.62-second run at 147 mph.

Then, to prove what a pro could do, Gadson hopped on a shaft-drive ZX-14 Concours, with saddlebags mounted. And did a couple of passes in the nines.

A sub-10-second quarter mile on a stock bike with saddlebags? Gadson really could haul the mail. Literally. Just put it in the saddlebags.

Yes, the motor is "based" on the ZX-14 but if you think the're remotely the same when it comes to power output, you're kidding yourself...

the concourse is based off of the zx14, slightly different internals/mapping/etc.

shows what rider ability can do

I imagine with the better bottom and mid range the Concours comes off the line pretty hard.. and the 4-link rear can't hurt either.
