A backfire is not the end of the world. Solve the battery probelm first and then see if it comes back. Oh, and try it in the dark so you can make cool flames.

I was fixing to write the same had to make sure some one hadn't wrote it first guess you beat me to it. I was thinking to low of voltage to shut an injector but same thing.

If you have a volt meter, check battery voltage at the battery with the key off and then with the key on. It should be 12 - 12.5 volts.
If it is, than try to start the bike while watching the voltage, it shouldn't drop below 11 volts.
If it does the battery is proably bad.
If you'd like, bring the battery up and we can load test it, no charge.

jump it and try to crank it... before you buy a battery at least make sure the bike is ok; you can even run the cables through another bike/car and leave the battery out if you were concerned w/ a shorted cell. bring by BMW if you want, i45 and 1960 ask for matt if need...

as for the Honda comment; most go Uki and don't go back; you'll learn some day

Either or; a car battery should contain enough ah to keep it running for some time. Charging level from a car is the only deciding concern. Any smaller engine, low electronic level vehicle could stay running due to electric top. I wouldn't recommend a running german vehicle cause ours(bimmers) are maxed out in what batteries/alternators can do on a 12v system. That's why we're going to a 72v system.

Yeah, sounds like battery pooped and caused an ignition interupt. Or something in the alarm system...
