i'd say battery, and when it was so low the puter messed up and maybe had some excess fuel in a cylinder when you killed it. don't know if the ECU could mess up like that, but i wouldn't worry much about the backfire unless it continues after you replace the battery

yeah brett.. kinda what i was thinking too.. battery no juice then maybe the ecu messed up and boom.. going to try to find a battery.. not really wanting a autozone special. but right now anyone of them will do.. thanks for your suggestions..

honestly, If walmart has one to fit your bike, Id buy it.

They are really good batts.

Ive used 2(different bikes), and they never let me down.

The back fire is probably from flooding while trying to restart. But check fuel flow, then ignition parts , starting with plugs. Might be bad fuel. (water) Just a guess...... Hope it works out for you.

+1....unless you need a yamaha type battery that has to be "shorter" than most normal batteries for seat height clearance issues.

might try one if they got it to fit.. never had good luck with their boat batteries.. they always replaced them for nuttin. just the hassle of digging it out of the bilgeand toting it down the docks ..

no wasnt starting it.. it was running, then died and backfired.. new fuel, only 3800 miles on it.. thanks..
