I just run it, carefully. If pulled over I just say some cop on MH named "Popo" advised me that's what he does.

Seriously, it's like the sound of a tree falling down in the forest. If the light is red, and no one is there to see it, is ti really red? You tell me. I was the only one who could see it.

What screws me up is my wife likes me to sit though a full cycle or at a stuck light for like 5 minutes before she OK's me running it. I'm like, , just look at the floorboard and you won't know what color it is and won't give a . There's not a single car in sight.

I figure if I always drive in a safe manner, I am always respecting the intent of the people who devised the traffic code for our safety. I may not follow the code, but I respect the intent.

So, are cops not obligated to follow the same vehicle code as the rest of us licensed drivers?

+1

Traffic lights, stop signs, lane markers, yield signs, etc... are all forms of TRAFFIC CONTROL. If there is no traffic (aside from you) is there a need for the control? I'm just saying, if you've been sitting there and the light won't change, whats the problem with that? Just do it safely...

And as popo said, we ARE ALL subject to tickets (DPS and some popo agencies are NOTORIOUS about giving other cops tickets, so you can't say we're always exempt from getting one).

ALWAYS watch your back and keep 'er in gear when sittin' at a light...

NewYear's day '04 a guy on a sport/touring bike got SLAMMED from behind as he was sitting at a red light (the driver was drunk and illegal... not starting t, just saying).

I got there and only had to look at him from a distance to know he was dead...

the driver fled on foot, was "detained" by unknown citizens, and was taken into custody. He did say in spanish (overheard by a black officer who speaks spanish) that he didn't care, he'd just go back to mexico (the judge no-bonded his a$$).

I was at Northwest Honda getting some gear this week and was checking out the wings. The guy there told me that HPD just approved wings for cops in Houston. He said that the requirment was the picking the bike up solo.
I thought I had seen cops on wings and HD Ultras, including DPS.

What are most of them riding?

That is what I thought they were riding. Maybe he meant the new models or something...
It seemed like a weird comment.

According to my neighbor, who is an HPD Motorcycle Cop, they have to ride big V-twin bikes.

I will check with him about the Goldwing thing - stand by.
