I hope you're kidding. What kind of precedence does that set?
Nope.

I don't think it's need for cops to add to teh fire and chase.. the biker is already endangering others, a full out chase on the street doesn't help make other ppl safe.
So you're saying cops shouldn't chase anyone. What a load of . Although it does happen, the chance of a cop injuring someone is remote. Until there's an alternative (you have one?) for disabling vehicles by directional energyor whatever, the precedence of the chase needs to remain.

the chance of the cop injuring someone may be remote but what toobuku may be trying to say is by pursuing the suspect at high speeds it makes things more vulnerable for disaster (like running lights, swerving around traffi, etc.)

if they are chasing someone, there is some kind of procedure that they should pursuit with some kind of care to minimize problems. this i know.

bottom line dont run cuz you might kill someone else and yourself.

Re: Rider died today

Believe it or not, cops have enough sense to call off a chase if they feel it's getting too dangerous.

And, werd to "don't run". Check your attitude at the door and pull over before you kill yourself or, worse, someone else.

Re: Rider died today

Im sitting here at work quoting something I read to my buddy I work with about the law and/or governing guidlines of officers in a chase. I was wonderingif anyone has any real hardcopy of the statutes or guidlines in place reguarding this. I think the chase is just not worth it. Good people will always stop even if you think you can get away. But your insane to think that there arnt plenty of cops that get the adrenalin pumping and the "hes not getting away on my watch" sets in. Whatever he was pulled over for and whatever he was running from was not worth anyones life. PERIOD. They should know they arnt gonna catch a good rider and they will make a poor rider kill himself trying. Thats the precedence that is not to be set, but understood as truth.

If I ran I would die trying. I know that . . . so I would pull over

Re: Rider died today

whats funny is that there is a law out that after a certain speed the cops are not suposed to pursue u still there suposed to just fall back and let it go. but they never do it anyways

why even bother? thats how they act, and if they choose to act like as5es then i doubt they would change given everyone's age. i hope your friend is in peace with others that have fallen. hope you mourn alright and don't make a situation thats bad already, even more crappier.

You need to look for the City's SOP's (Standard Operating Procecures). They vary city to city. Again - until there's a viable alternative to a chase, the chase must go on. I think most of you forget that police are heavily trained for pursuit. If someone runs from the police and kills someone or themselves, it's CERTAINLY not the fault of the police.
