More gun questions

Has anyone ever used a Hi Point C9? I went to buy one today but the gun shop was closed. I am wanting a gun and dont want to spend a lot of money on it. I have read both good and bad reviews on Hi Point and just wanted to get more opinions.

ask your buddy to take you and to let you shoot some of his guns... then you can better decide... I have a glock and I love it... its more of a LEO gun but many people still have it for home protection... it retails for about 520ish

glocks are great pistols just point and shoot. 13 moving parts not alot can break on them. you can get a used on for about 400 and if you know a copper he can get them for 427 out the door new at tomballgun and a few other places

I have a Hi Point C9 and the 9mm carbine.

Both shoot fine, kinda blocky and not a real good looking gun. But they go bang everytime I pull the trigger. Hard to beat as they are so cheap, and HiPoint has a good customer service rep.

I don't like the Glock triggers, but a lot of people do. Most people that buy Glocks aren't looking for target accuracy, but reliability. That said, there are plenty of reputable "plastic" guns out there besides the Glock, but don't get the pubs. Before you buy one, go try one out.

glocks are quite accurate i have multiple throphys from shooting my glock and a state championship. triggers are similar to a revolver and can easily be lightened. as far as hi point put a few thousand rounds down range as see how well it functions.

What range do you go to? If you are near the SE side I have springfield XD 45 I'll let you shoot see how you like it. POPO is right glocks are nice guns I used to own a Glock 20C. I just like the feel of the XD better. Hey POPO I know most precints have certain guns they let their officer carry on duty but, are you allowed to carry springfield?

My dad ran a couple thou thru it before he passed away. I have shot another 1K or so; I prefer a 1911.

Now run a few thou without cleaning and anything, including a Glock (except maybe an AK), will give some hic cups.

For the money, HiPoint is a good first entry gun to see if you even like the hobby.

my carry g19 has over 100k though is my comp. g34 is over 180k and i dunt clean my production guns at all. only ones i clean are the sv's and sti's. i prefer 1911 my self but the glock has proven to be the best semi auto's ive owned. again we had a few hi mpoints for r&d a while back and the fit finish and function of the gun was shiit. ive seen bb guns made better.

HiPoint fit and finish is just what it is, a cheap gun. I know when they first came out they had some QC issues, but I haven't heard of any problems recently.

They are not in the same class as a Glock, S&W, M&P, Sig, Ruger.

They are what they are, a cheap entry level or truck gun.

You need to go to a shop and see how the guns feel in your hand. You may like the grip on some, but not on others. I like the Glocks cause they're great pistols, but I own a Beretta 92FS, because it fits me better, IMO. They're relatively inexpensive, too... about $500 +/-. Easy to field strip and clean, as well.

If you wanna buy this because you are considering it as a hobby, then it's worth it to buy a gun that feels comfortable in your hand. It could very well be a Hi Point, but I wouldn't limit your options to just one pistol. Try them all out first. If you buy a gun you don't like, then you're not gonna like the hobby from the get go.
