Insurance/Cold Weather

Do any of you cancel your bike insurance during colder weather if you keep the bike parked? I financed Mogee, so I'm wondering if I can termporarily interupt the insurance while it's being financed, or was it just a requirement to drive off the lot?

I won't go into too many details here except to say that we're currently trying to refinance the house and dealing with scraping together funds to pay taxes at the first of the year. We don't escrow. :/: I'm just wondering if I could cancel Mogee's insurance a month or two to cut corners. And NO, I absolutely wouldn't ride; tis wrong and besides that, I'm too paranoid.

I know you can usually put insurance on pause. I do it often on my toy truck when I'm doing major repairs.

That'd be better than cancelling altogether and restarting. I'm with State Farm so I guess I'll call and ask about the "Policy Pause" procedure. I don't think they'll question it since we have two cars--Mogee isn't primary transportation.

I wish I still had my old Walls, although, I guess the new cold weather gear is better. Thermal underwear and two sweatshirts ain't cuttin it for me. Maybe when we refinance the house I can roll in a small loan for a full set of appropriately fitted gear.

A YEAR? For real? I thought the amount for a 32 year old female with a clean driving record was high. . .Eh, I don't know what it is exactly, but I'm certainly paying more than $248 a year. OK. Gotta find paperwork and see how much more. . .

HOLY CHIT! Something reallllllllly cool has just happened! I rarely open the envelopes from State Farm because we have autodeduct. Now and again I open the fat ones to get the new insurance cards out, but I was pawing thru old letters and the skinny ones that have "dividend info" on them have CHECKS! It's not just INFO!!!!!!!! I'm looking at one from May of 2007 for 98.90!!!!!!!!!! This is so cool. I need to look at more and see if there are other checks! I may not have to worry about it at all anyway.

I've only found the one so far. There are lots of skinny State Farm envelopes and MANY piles to go thru. But, I did find out that I pay $114.33 a month for Mogee.

If I find other checks do you think they are all independently valid. . .or would they keep rolling the previously uncashed amount into the next check? Does that make sense? If I find another one and cash two at the same time, will I be likely to owe them money? I dunno how this works. Gawd. . .what if I've lost lots of checks. Surely I could call them and get new checks cut or something.

Wow. What a cool Thanksgiving. I'm glad I asked this question, otherwise I wouldn't have tried to find the info about Mogee's monthly charge.

Wow, what bike is it? I pay $97.90(I think, under 100) a month for my 2003 VFR 800 full coverage w/ 200 deductable on comp. and 500 on collision. Plus, I'm 19 and have 2 accidents on record.

Mogee's an 06 RR. Maybe it's time for me to talk to Pete or Candie. :/: I can't find the policy info. Sigh. I dunno why they have to send house info, car info and Mogee info all seperately. For some reason the house and car info seems to be more plentiful. I haven't found Mogee's details yet. Haven't found another check either. But, still lots of piles.

as for the other checks, cash them all I got several also.
Yeah, Houston's a booger. I remember the insurance rep lamenting our move from Pearland to a Houston zip. :/:

One of the State Farm offices in Pearland currently handles all our insurance. Is it true that one S.F. office may be able to give a better deal than another? I never bothered to talk to Candie b/c I figured S.F. is S.F. If not, that's great.

Used to be Harris county was 3rd or 4th highest rates in the nation. With all the uninsured drivers around, I dont imagine it got much better.

I have Progressive, and both bikes together are $77/month for full coverage, theft, med, etc. But we are "old" with clean records, MSF, and the Hyosung 650 is the only one that qualifies as sport.. my dinosaur is a standard and cheap.
