E46 M3s are the ones that have those problems and it is generally Feb 02 cars and under. It has been well documented and most of those have had their engines replaced or at least the rod bearings done at the first sign of a problem. Plus those cars came with an extended engine warranty of 6/100K.

S52s are considered to be almost bulletproof a.k.a all USDM E36 M3s from 96-99.

AWD > FWD any day
I have a friend who has a first gen eclipes putting over 350 hp to the wheels and it is worthless, ubnless you're doing a 70 mph punch [which it has beaten a 700+hp vette at a 70mph punch]
but from a stand still as soon as boost comes on all it is, is smoke and noise. not to mention the loss of control from the massive tourque steer.
stick with AWD or RWD for a sports car

Yeah forgot the years. When u see those cars everyday it all starts to blur together.. I was thinking 2000 up. BTW I have done more than a few of those recalls myself and I would still be weary of them. Cause I have seen some of the guys doing them and some dont care..

if i was going to buy a sporty car under 20K it would be an s2000. I LOVE honda cars. I've driven the S2K and it's a fun car.

I had the G35 (luxury 350Z) and sold it after a year, I'll never buy Nissan again. It didn't have the build quality of the honda.
