LED lights at night and Houston legal?

Im realitively new to Houston and was wondering if you have extra lights on your bike, do cops hassle or give you tickets for this? I personally think it's good protection ( to be seen) and would hope that cops wouldn't give a chick a ticket for having them on her bike. Are there any laws against this? Thanks 4 your two cents ..

I have a class A license and have read plenty of hand books on vehicle laws, Every book I remember states clearly the only light colors a non emergency vehicle can emit is
(Rear) red, amber, and white only in reverse
(front) Amber, and white

But I have installed some crazy blue L.E.D.'s on my bike, have attended several large bike rallys where LEO's are plentiful, even stopped to ask several state, county, and city officials there opinion on my lighted tire valves, most of my front fender, and strobing under belly and none of them had a problem with them at all!

BUT! I get the feeling if someone really wants to give me a ticket I bet the lights will be included.

Yeah, that's how it was in Maryland, but wasn't sure about Texas, cause the laws vary per state. Thanx for the response, appreciate it!

Which style did you use? I am shopping to do the wifes bike and not 100% sure what size/style to use.

I found some oval with 6 leds.. and other styles as well.

ok, so the "pod" style work fine. I found some for $8-9 each, and they have other stuff I need, so I guess I'll go shopping.

thanks!

alot of thoughts, so i'll add mine.

I always thought, and never got cited for having lights that.. were NOT emergency colors (red or blue) and that you could not see the bulb, and that they didnt shine to the front or rear...

so pretty much hide the bulbs, and make them shine to the sides or down, its the rules i've lived by...

now before anyone says anything, I DOTN HAVE LEDs ON MY BIKE, why? easy. i dont suck .

but back when they were cool and straight people had them, i had some.
