Bottled Water Tax

Have you heard the city of Chicago has passed tax on bottled water?
It will be effective Jan 1.

How long before other cities pass that tax too?

I also heard a guy on the radio predict that after these taxes it will be a tax on bags of ice.

These are taxes above regular sales tax BTW.

I'm not sure why bags of ice would be included. The amount of plastic wasted can't be any where NEAR the waste from bottled water. :dontknow:

I don't think it's the plastic that is the concern so much as the energy to make the ice.

I proudly drink water straight from the PVC infested, bug ridden, solar heated, decomposing lime green water hose. The water tastes awesome with all those chemicals and compounds from the hose, unlike anything you get in a bottle. And the fact it comes from a nearby polluted lake makes me smile. There is a small chance I am lucky enough to have a lead pipe or two in my old house so maybe it makes me a little stupider too.

I am so sick of people who are too good for the municipal water supply. Think about it. For every 16 ounces of water those folks drink, they throw away a 16 ounce container. Bottled water is for when the sink, hose, or water fountain is out of reach.

I think I wanna shower in bottled water next. F'ing pansies.

Funny, cause people get sick over the smallest things these days cause all the clean and sanitary around us doesn't require our immune systems from working so hard. Granted yes, the sanitary nature of the US has improved out life expectancy, but when people are worried to get their hands dirty to change out a spare on the side of the road, how man-ly can you really be?

I drink water out of the tap, I like it refrigerated, and yes, after a few weeks the container that does hold the water in the fridge needs to be cleaned, but that's just my way of getting all the nutrience the body needs that modern day medicine frowns over

All the plastic wasted from the bottles? What does coke come in?

The city probably just needs to make some of the money up that their water district is now losing out on.

They sell 'normal' just filtered tap water too.

Sometimes my tap water is a little too crunchy, but I've gotten used to it.

When Aqaufina was introduced to the Houston Market the bottles had the source of the water on the label. Guess where it came from?
