Surprised that newenough.com has not come up yet.
I've gotten several of my pieces from them. You will have to know what size you wear in several different manufactuers but you can usually pick up a deal.

+1 on the gloves, and I know you may like riding with jeans but from what I hear, jeans will not protect your skin in a slide .
I took a slide in the Hill Country this summer. I was geared up with a new pair of Olympia gloves (my slide rubbed a hole in the palm), Joe Rocket Cleo overpants (did not even look like they had been in a accident-but Lordy was I brusied) with jeans under them and Cortec jacket (trashed) and FF helmet (trashed), I got right up (well after I caught my breath-got the wind knocked out of me) and proceded to direct traffic around my bike (she was stuck under a guard rail). Try doing that with no hide.....

Just my 2 cents BTW I was only going about 20-25 mph when I did not clear the corner, dug the peg and lifted the front wheel...if you don't think it can happen to you just wait....

Best thing to do is try on several jackets and gloves to find something that is comfortable, because if it is uncomfortable you will be less likely to wear it.

+1 to Motorcycles Unlimited. They will get you taken care of.

have you taken the MSF?

many schools give discounts to local stores ater completing the class.

www.cyclegear.com also has alot of womens gear, and they give discounts to recent MSF grads.

and as to u sir... u would come see me in the hosp if i was geared or not... bc u love me :-D and b/c i came and saw u :-p.... as for my to big helmet... i have a smaller one to doofus... u know this... and cover up?!? might have to argue with caligonetx bout that...i think he likes when i have a low cut shirt on :-p hahaha

and for now, im mainly looking for a jacket... i know gloves are important, but a jacket is already pushing it for me... im not to fond of the constrictivness of gear. i know i know, i need my gear. blah blah, ive heard it all a million times...and i do love my skin... i just dont care for gear for casual riding... ill gear up when i do the track. so ill get a jacket for now, only cuz its getting so cold...and ill get gloves eventually when i come to my senses :-)

Make sure the jacket allows for a backprotector. Most only come with foam pads. You will want to put a backprotector in it eventually.

Also, make sure the jacket has ce-rated armor. I prefer textile with parts mesh over all-mesh.

I think you just got used to wearing no gear and riding. It really just takes getting used to. the throttle will feel funny with gloves on but once you get used to it its like its not even there.

oh and i like Astar gear for women.

+ 1, I actually feel naked without my gear on.

Besides, you really don't know how to appreciate gear until you wrecked and needed it and then are thankful for what you had. Crashing sucks but it can suck more the more you get hurt.

Go check out Cycle Gear and try some stuff on. And NW Honda does have a pretty good selection.

You really should get some basic gloves at least. Try getting thru a day without using your hands (because if you fall, first instinct is to put your hands out and there go the palms and fingers).
