The the Theists...

... more specifically christians of the board.

If you worked for a company and were in charge of hiring, or had some influence in the hiring process, would you try to stop me from getting hired because I'm an atheist?

Technically this should be illegal, but there are arguments that since it's not a religion, it's not discrimination based on religion.

So, for the sake of argument, let's say that nobody would know.

If you had the skills that I was needing and the right attitude to work with the people in the culture that we have in the office, I would give you chance.
I really don't care if you believe and pray to Mickey Mouse. We are one the job to make money.

It wouldn't/shouldn't. I'm asking based on prior knowlege. As if actually KNEW me and that I was applying for a job at their company.

Would ya'll really try to do that? Even though the topic is taboo for office talk and probably against office policy?

i do have a some input here at my job, we don't look for a religion as a requirement or a pre-req. it isn't about religion (to some it may be) but if you are a religious person, esp. a christian, it shouldn't matter as you should not judge people by their religion or beliefs.

Am I correct or not?

If you were qualified, I'd hire you. I'm not sure the topic would even come up in the interview unless you mentioned it.

Now if hired, expect me to invite you to church a few times. No, I wouldn't be oppressive about it either.

I ask because it's seems to be the general consensus of christians that they will not vote for a candidate that happened to be atheist even if they thought he/she was the most qualified. I was just curious if the same applied to their workplace.

Anonymous influence is the same as voting, right?

If Paul was beaten, imprisoned, and eventually killed by the Romans for spreading the Gospel of Christ - what is losing a job? There are other jobs to be had.

Having said that, I mention it at work - but I AM NOT OFFENSIVE in the presentation. Usually it consists of an invitation to church, or an offer to pray for an individual if a situation warrants it. My company has a pretty good inclusion policy - we can have bible study at lunch, post church invites for activities, etc..
