That whole deal of multiple dimensions and strings never felt right. They say one of the tests of a theory is that it needs to be simple and seem real.
Maybe the LHC will help.


On a side note, imagine what it would be like if we understood and could control gravity. We don't have much understanding of it, but I think when we figure out how to generate really large amounts of energy we will be able to manipulate it and then maybe we could realistically think about travelling long distance.

they are looking into multiple forms of energy supplys for long distance, an example would be antimatter. we generate that today and lean that it is very unstable. Gravity will be even trickier, but more stable. I think this will be the only way to travel very long distances but we will have to have a little more than just gravity. we are far from reality on the simples principals that make us exist. much less looking for new places to move to.
