You said that you were in an accident. Was it bad and are you okay from that?

so leaving the M endorsement aside, since a lot of people don't have it anyways, and yes I agree they are mostly lame excuses since it takes no time to get it...

I just want to know what is the excuse for the no insurance? Bad enough that bikes get stolen and wrecked fairly often but no liability, just cuz? Didnt feel like being grown up back then and following the law? short on money... anything?

Someone else already said it. Call the courts and get an accurate breakdown of your fines and the penalties you face when you renew your license.

Nothing you can do now will help you out other than finding a good lawyer and prayer. Either way you're going to be spending money!

if you have liability on your car you can call the court and tell them you have insurance on a different vehicle and fax it to them they will dismiss the inusrance ticket.... as far as no license + accident i have no idea what they will hit you with...

Was glad to hear that you were/are OK.

I infer from this statement that the bike did not fare so well.

Not true it has to be a motorcycle policy......the policy on the other vehicle is different then the motorcycle policy. The court will not accept it.

probably around $175 for no license and $250 for no insurance.

there goes about 2 years of liability insurance. maybe a year for full coverage.

it's okay, i don't have a driver's license or insurance either.....but then again, i don't ride on the street anymore. i've lost my license from doing stupid on the street without a motorcycle license. hope you learned your lesson. after about $800 in fines.....and getting my license denied, i think i've learned my lesson.

bikes = cop magnets

Annual surcharge for certain convictions
Drivers who receive a conviction for any of the following offenses that occur on or after September 1, 2003 are required to pay an annual surcharge for three years from the date of conviction.

Driving without a Valid License (i.e.; No Driver License, No Commercial Driver License, No Endorsement Violation, No Motorcycle License, Operate with License for other Class Vehicle).
$100 annual surcharge

Driver notification of surcharge and driver license suspension
The driver will be notified by mail to the address on record with DPS of the assessment of a surcharge. The notice will state the surcharge must be paid within 30 days to prevent the suspension of driving privileges. Upon suspension for failure to comply with the surcharge requirements, driving privileges remain suspended until the person establishes an installment agreement, or pays in full all surcharges and related costs, such as service/collection fees.

As a courtesy, individual's establishing an installment agreement will receive monthly reminders with a payment coupon indicating the amount due and the remaining balance. Should a monthly reminder not be received, the driver is still responsible for making timely payments to prevent suspension of driving privileges.

http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/directo...n/pr092904.htm

As of Sept. 1, 2003, certain offenses carry an automatic surcharge for three years, including DWI-related offenses, no insurance, driving while license suspended and driving without a license. For example, the fee for a first-time DWI offender is [B]$1,000 per year for three years.

Failure to maintain insurance and driving while license invalid-$250 per year
. Driving without a valid license-$100 per year

you have like 30days to add a veh. to your policy, so she might be over that time limit.

also my car ins. co doesn't cover bikes at all.

Well at least go to the DPS and take the written test for the m/c . At least you will have a restriction L.O.I.S. meaning if you are ridding with at least one person w/ a m/c licence you are ok.
