Well now let's not fall into the trap of thinking or insinuating atheists are bad people...some are great people, they just fall short in one key area (as recognized by believers)...

...I feel you though P

I didn't want to get into that whole discussion (again), but thanks for pointing it out.

i think that's the exact mindset a lot of so called christians have. they just Say they believe(to others, as well as themselves) In Case it's real. That's not real belief though, and the Bible will tell you that.
The fear of is what kept me trying to convince myself I believed for a good chunk of my childhood, but I can now reasonably dismiss that fear.

If I'm wrong, I couldn't accept the consequences without some enlightenment that supersedes my human reasoning abilities. Like I told the Campus Xians, or the Panhandlers of Souls, as i like to call them..
Them-"What would you say if you died and had to stand before ?"
Me- "I don't believe in you"

To me it's like asking what if Santa came down the chimney one evening. I can be hypothetical about it, but in the end I'm not going to worry about it because I'm pretty confident that there's no real Santa Claus.

To believe there is a that gave you the ability to question all things and then would punish you for questioning all things is a bit ironic to me.

Though we stand on two different sides of the issue we agree at the most basic levels...

I love this discussion but, find that most Xtians want to beat you with their bible instead of reasoning with it.

<---I not that way

I like to go the reasoning route because how can you provide arguments from a material that your subject doesn't recognize as valid? This gets into the whole idea behind epistomology...that which you reference must be recognized by all parties involved in determining/setting the standard for truth...

so true. I appreciate the way this thread has started, and how most opinions have been respectful. I'm always willing to have a decent discussion but I'm not always willing to be told I am wrong simply b/c of my beliefs.

I personally feel that religion is a crutch for people to lean on. It's a reason to get up in the morning and strive towards something "greater". I don't need that to be a good person, i live my life my by beliefs and morals and as long as i'm happy with myself i'll be ready to accept whatever is thrown at me. I'll have no choice. that is my .02
