The cowboy mentality.

Hey, I got to Texas in 1993 (as fast as I could) and had all intentions of becoming World Champion Barrel Racer in 2000. Boy, was I in for a surprise.

Family moved us down here from New Jersey because my father couldn't stand the snow, cold, rudeness.

Stayed down here because the cost of living is so much cheaper than Jersey is, people are nicer down here than in New Jersey, my entire famil, friends, network is down here.

I always consider Jersey home because that's where I grew up. Although I do miss snow, using the fireplace, having a pair of mittens, and having NYC being one subway ride away.

I've been nomadic since birth...I will be surprised if I live in Houston more than 6 years. Right now 6 years is the longest I've ever lived in one location.

Raised in the Arlington
Went to College in East Texas
Moved to Houston for 10 years while I worked for Compaq/HP
Moved to Austin

I've pretty much made all points of the triangle and even though I enjoyed Houston much more than I thought I would, I enjoy Austin much more, and actually it's not the terrain like you might think. Even though Austin is by no means a "small" city, it is compared to Houston. I like the smaller "feel" of the Austin area. The traffic is NOT small town. Houstonians definitely have heavier feet.

Also, the % less humidity in the summer is absolutley noticeable...

As for the state, it rules all. "Mr. way too proud of Texas guy" would agree. I like visiting my brother in Ft. Collins, Co, but wouldn't want to live there full time.

Also, to quote one of my favorite movies of all time that takes place in Texas:

"What could anyone possibly like about this state?"

"I like the way it's shaped."

Born and raised in Alief. Travelled all over the country but haven't found anywhere I'd prefer to live (except for Colorado, as others have said, haha). Even then, there are a ton of hippy liberals there, so not sure how long it'd take me to get tired of that, haha.

I've been here since October of 2006. Sold my business in Nashville and was offered a job in Kingwood. Personally, I love it here. Right now in Nashville it's cold and crappy and here it is sunny and warm. I choose sunny and warm any day.

Plus most people I have met since I've been here have been really cool and helpful.

But what truly broughtme here was a need for a change of scenery and cashola.

I've been here since July 2003.
I was born and raised in Guatemala.

For me and compared to where I come from:
Houston is paradise

No plans to move...
