Crystalline, each of us has to make, and live with, our decisions. If you don't feel you need to shoot someone to prevent _______, then don't do it!

But if someone does feel they need to shoot someone to prevent _______, then they are allowed to do it (within the confines of the law, naturally).

Perhaps you don't know any criminals or have never really dealt with them. Criminals are not like you and I, they don't have a "moral compass" and will do whatever they can get away with... they will go as far as you let them!

How far will you let them go????

Ok folx.... we need some intelligent thought here.

In a situation... you are less likely to be prosecuted if you kill someone breaking into your house, or in your home stealing property than you are if you shoot them when they are fleeing.
You are less likely to be prosecuted if they are carrying stolen property, then if they are not (while fleeing).

The law does NOT say you CAN kill someone, or injure them...it says you have a LEGAL DEFENSE AGAINST BEING PROSECUTED.

I'd shoot a 12 yr old girl if she broke into my house. For sure.

"HAHAHA!!! I lived in a neighborhood that had drive way robberies! Stfu with that . "

lol I dont think there is a nieghborhood in the country that doesnt have driveway robberies. I'd shoot them too. Maybe if someone in your neighborhood would have done the same the theives would think twice. They know the possible consequences. Obviously they think that stealing a car radio/speaker is worth dying for. Let them have it!!!

If it makes you feel any better...regardless of what you would do for me...If I were your neighbor and witnessed someone breaking into your house and you werent home...you'd come home to a dead criminal on your property.

But then again...you would prob. rather them take all your though right?

This person is committed to a life of crime. They know that they will get jail time for past crimes if they are caught. You confronting them in will increase their risk and a simple choice would be to eleminate witnesses. What started as BE turned into homicide. you see that headline alot, mostly with carjackers...
A neighbor who was probably outside the house and def off his property came and contronted these two men. He put himself out there with his weapon after he called the police. He was most likely outside of the home. That is not breaking an entery (but would have been if he didn't stop them, I know). They were going to run off and he killed them. I don't see self defense or protecting property anymore.

Haha, she would testify for the prosecutor that you had no right to shoot someone on her property. They have a right to live and a right to run off with her monetary goods since they already got it out the window. YOU MURDERER

The locals have their own justice system , ever heard of punishment beatings? Being from Northen Ireland I never did depend on the police to do the right thing.

They were shot, while in the process of attempting to break into the home.

You have trespassing, attempted unlawful entry, attempted breaking and entering. That would seem to cover and fall within the realm of protecting property.

...from the article..
""He confronted them with a shotgun," Corbett said, and asked them to stop. They did not and he fired two shots, striking each man once, Corbett said."

He attemped to use non-lethal force, they did not comply.

" window in the back of the neighbor's house was broken, Corbett said"
We have breaking and entering, trespassing, unalwful entry.

You have the neighbor, protecting the property of his neighbor. IF they were innocent, they had no reason to fail to comply with the neighbors request for them to stop.

tell me one situation where a house was BROKEN into by a stranger, without the owner's knowledge, in which the stranger had 'good intentions'

I hope you arent saying that they didnt take anything...it clearly states that when the neighbor confronted them they were holding a bag...then ran...

it was probobly their lunchbox though huh...good point
