I just caught two guys breaking into my neighbors car the other night, but I dont really like my neighbors, so I didnt shoot the guys. I was waiting for them to hit my car next then there would have been two dead guys in my driveway.

Good luck to them in court. It is a good idea for those who own guns to learn the laws about the use of them.

Where do you get that part?

..the dif 'tween night and day, is that TX gives a much larger allowance during the night. Ie: In theory you could possibly escape charges for shooting someone trying to TP your home at night.

I believe they guy will be let off... the response & support of his neighbors, the lack of charges by police and the fact it was relegated to a grand jury w/o any other action.

ok, so what do you all think, given the circumstances, and knowing the gun laws, would you STILL have shot those burglars in this situation?

I don't think being shot and killed is fair punishment for breaking in someones house (especially if nobodys there / nobodys life is in danger so why should you take someone elses?)

I mean, we all stole something in our lives before (big or small) and if everyone got shot and killed for stealing something there wouldn't be anyone left on earth. Right?

I wouldn't have killed them as I stated before. But I probably would have pistol wipped them and maybe beat the out of them and let the cops clean up the mess.

That sounds fair, doesn't it?

Yeah, but It wouldnt help if my truck got broken into. I have a 250. deductible so I would have to pay for the glass, and car insurance doesnt cover the expensive IE: Ipods, digital cameras, and motorcycle gear. Just had 1100.00 worth of stolen out of my truck a couple of months ago, and my isurance said that a homeowners policy will cover it but the deductible for the home policy is 1300.00.

The cop from the other night said that if they were stealing my , I could have shot them because we are can protect our "own" personel property.

I dont think he did anything wrong. Obviously he knew the neighbors and cared about them.

As for me...neighbors on the right...I would go after the guys...

neighbors on the left...I'd wait for them with my weapon and if they ran...I might let them go but i'd be sure to get a good look at them to give the police a chance to catch them...lol...they aint krunk
