Pasadena man shoots and kills two suspected burglers

This is b/s. This guy knew his neighbors werent home and saw 2 men breaking in the house (through the window), called police, told police he was going to stop them. Killed them both after confronting them. Now there is a possibility that he will face criminal charges?? WTF. Go figure...they were illegals...

You are totally within the law to defend the life and/or property of another, provided you could have/would have done the same if it was your life/property...

...and YAY!

i know my neighbors, i'd do the same for them and expect the same in return. isn't that the whole concept behind a neighborhood watch program? if more people payed attention to their surroundings instead of being oblivious to them, this would prolly happen more often

i feel where you guys are coming from, but the spectrum of the law looks at it as this, he wasnt in immediate danger of his life so he didnt have to kill the two burglars

While I agree, I think he should be ok to do this, you know the biggest issue is going to be that the burglars were leaving the property when he shot them. With loot in hand or not, he was no longer "Defending" the property. I still think they should leave him alone. I would do the same thing for my neighbor. Of course they aren't legal citizens, they shouldn't have ANY rights here. All they were going to do is hock the stuff off and send the money back home.

Had the guy just sat and watched (as soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many people do) the criminals would get the goods and be long gone before the po-po arrived.

Johnnie t-head (or Juan-t-head in this case) gets away free and clear then comes and breaks into YOUR house, as your neighbor watches...

I hear you on them having NO rights whatsoever.

My dad always told me if someone breaks into your house do your best to kill them INSIDE your house b/c if you injure them and they make it out, or you shoot them outside they or their families can attempt to sue...I guess this applies here, but I know it is perfectly legal to shoot someone if they are breaking into your car so...IDK...all I know is that RacerX is 100% right he deserves medals, and I would do the same for any of my neighbors.

haha this reminds me sat. night 3 of my buddies came over and I ran to the liqour store, my girl's car was there and they went to my front door and sat down and were being kind of loud. When I got home I let them in and my neighbor across the street called me over there...he was sitting on the front porch when they got there and he thought my girl was home by herself, he had gone in and had a 12 guage in his lap just in case they were up to something haha. I told him I appreciate the thought but thanks for not killing my friends!

No criminal charges will be filed...

A CIVIL suit is a different matter entirely...

And those criminals (whatever origin, race, etc...) chose what happened to them (you don't usually get shot while at your legit job)...

My company owned a deer lease in south texas on the border. Some 10,000 acres. Comments like this make people make laws like them HAVING to put stairs over their high game fences to ALLOW illegals to pass through their property. The idea of "THEY ARE PEOPLE TOO" forces land owners to do that because it is "INHUMANE" to force them to try and pass all the way around your property and possibly die of dehydration. My company has to carry pistols to clear people out of their deer blinds in the mornings, and many hunts get ruined with major clients as an illegal walks through his feeders and stand in the middle of a hunt. You can't be nice AND stop illegals. As bad as it sounds, I think Illegals should be stripped of ALL their rights in the US. Sounds extreme, but that would put a stop to them coming here. Just think, what are your rights in Mexico? If someone wants you to disappear over there, you will. It happens all the time. Makes you think twice about the line you walk when you go there right? I love going to Mexico, but even walking a straight line can get you killed or thrown under a prison never to be heard from again, so I definetely don't act up over there.

I think mentioning them being Illegal is kinda mute point......It lend to the belief that if your Illegal your a thief. kinda like saying +1 they were they were black, +1 they were white, +1 they drove a red car. It just a generalized ignorant statement.

I seriously doubt it will go anywhere, the grand jury will drop it. All the 'extra' emotion, or the spin is all from the stupid friggin media. There is state legal code covering this. As long as his neighbor has no problem with it, he should be relatively safe from any prosecution from the state... Civil might be another matter, but then the new 'castle' law may play into that as a defense also.

Why do they deserve to be dead? Because they were putting someone life in danger?? From what the article said, NO ONE WAS HOME. It was the neighbor who saw. It was good that the neighbor was a good friend to call the police but for him to kill them was completely wrong. Bash me all you want but NO ONE WAS IN DANGER. NO ONES LIFE WAS THREATENED.
