Fake Dainese

So recently purchased a Dainese jacket from an online retailer. (Yes, yes, I am stupid to have made a purchase online through an ebay seller, but hopefully my mistake will save someone else some headache.) Well I got the jacket today and surprise surprise, it is fake. I have filed a claim through paypal but we'll see what happens.

So if you are planning on buying any gear from this seller: cheapleathers323, I would recommend against it. I noticed he has a Laguna Seca suit up on ebay right now. His business email is shawn@shelterdistributors.com.

I may have just thrown $425 bucks down the toilet but I figured I'd let everyone know so you can make fun of me and save yourselves some trouble. I'm going to go turn off all my lights and cry naked in the corner now for a little while.

Unfortunately I went straight through the seller actually but the payment was through paypal and they have a claims department. We'll see what happens. Can't trust anyone these days.

Oh well. Lesson learned.

Depends on what model. I paid around that price for mine through cycle gear.

Well here's the thing. He only has a Leguna Seca suit on ebay. I sent him an email asking what other deals on Dainese gear he can get. I asked specifically about the Dainese "Vintage" jacket that just got released. It's on the Dainese website. He told me he could get it for me special order. So I sent him $425 through paypal.

I got the jacket today and it is CLEARLY fake. The leather looks different from the Dainese picture. It is cheap leather. The stitching is poor quality. The liner is already frayed and much cheaper than other Dainese jackets I've had. The buttons are not Dainese buttons, they normally have the Dainese logo on them. There is only one button on the collar where the real one has two. No real Dainese tags, just some other tag that says "real leather". Also, "DAINESE" is spelled out across the front of the jacket but you can tell its fake because the lettering is off from the real Dainese logo.

oh, just an fyi, if paypal doesn't do anything, you can call your credit card company that you paid the paypal account with and dispute the charge and put a stop payment on it.

At first I just told him I wanted a refund but didn't tell him I realized it was fake yet. He said he'd give me $50 back if I just kept it. He "special ordered" it for me and would have to pay a restocking fee to take it back. I didn't know that fake companies had restocking fees. Haha.

He hasn't responded to the claim I made through paypal yet. I'm pretty sure there isn't a whole lot I can do that would be worth my time, but at the very least I wanted to let everyone here know there is fake gear floating around. It's news to me though I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.

I'm going to have a lawyer friend write him a threatening letter and then have some fellow cop friends try and find me some info. Aside from that I might just be screwed.

So be careful guys! Get your stuff from Cycle Gear, Motorcycles Unlimited, or somewhere trustworthy! I was trying to save some money and look what happened...

wow, just checked out his auctions, for one, the laguna suit has been removed from ebay, and two, every other item he has sold has been no-name knock off stuff...and x-men replica motorcycle leathers. no offense man, but that should have tipped you off that his stuff was fake before you bought anything.
