I thought about it, but i'm not mechanically inclined enough to redo an old whole car.

i mean when i was a kid, dad and i would set the timing by moving the dist. and other things like that, which 1/2 these kids nowadays have no idea what i'm taking about.

but to take on a whole car, would be HUGE.

I'm into cars but not domestics. I do apppreciate a classic muscle car for what it is and wouldn't mind having one but outside of that, there isn't much made here that suits me.

I have recently heard that Toyota is now the only truck sold in America that is totally built in America.

A project is nice in some ways and not in others, if funds allow buy one mostly complete, that way u can tinker, I,ve spent 30,000 on a camaro before and that took years, let someone else spend money and time and then take over there project, but be carefull, buy smart, I have and have had a few toys, 69 chevelle, 72 el camino ss, 72 chevelle, several 69 camaros, 52 Bentley, mustangs, 70 chevy pu, 72 chevy super cheyenne, porsche, firebird, iroc camaro and modern z28, just 2 name a few

COME ON ED!!! that is what a Camera and the internut is for. Dude, you think i knew how to paint and make it half way decent? NO! you think i knew how to build a spoke wheel? NO! a camera and the internut is all i needed and is all that you need.

It would be fun, something the whole family could get involved in.

Those old muscle cars are more simple than a motorcycle to work on, maybe not the engine so much but there are so many resources for parts for those things. you can doooo eet.

No, sure don't.

I grew up in a car family, everyone was either owning a sales car lot or a mechanic or like my stepdad, designing kits and tuning cars.

I am more into the Porsche, Ferrari and for me real person the pocket rockets or the rally cars. If I was realistic and had the budget right now, I'd get a Mazdaspeed 3 today! Of course, I'd also take it on the track. That is what I really want to do. Maybe one day, my stepdad will give me one of his 12 cars and I'll take it on the track.

Actually, most people with DOMESTICS still know how to do that. Just b/c some of the newer cars don't have dists don't mean people don't know about them, lol.

93 Mustang here. 10.6s in the 1/4 mile on drag radial tires, OD auto trans, stereo bumping the 10" sub while going down the track, driven to/from. Built it from the ground up. Shaved/filled engine bay, rollbar w/ removable door bars, welded chassis, built rearend, etc etc.

Building a car from scratch (and learning along the way) is so much more fulfilling vs buying one already done for you or buying a new one stock b/c most won't leave it stock for long, so there you are back to working on / modifying a car you're making payments on.

Me and wife are torn.
I want a Soliste (sp) or a Vette and she wants the new Camero.
I like the roadsters and she likes the coupes. I guess we will wait and see when the Camero hits the streets which we buy. At least we will have a chance to test drive both first to see what fits best. Her best argument is our daughter and the need for a back seat.

A pontiac solstice is not even in the same league as the vette or camaro, lol. Get that consideration out of your head, lol.

That car has a little more pep that people give it credit for. It weights less than 3,000 lbs and has 260Hp with a 7,000 RPM redline. It doesn't have the torque to keep up with the fast V-8 engines with a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds, but in normal driving on the freeway it can accelerate pretty good from say 55 to 120 MPH. It's smaller size makes it more manuverable also.
But then again, 400 ponies in a Vette does beat them hands down and twice on Sundays.

thie both diff. one old skool, one retro old skool.

we will have some "cool" car in the garage at some point, don't know if it'll be new or old, more then likely old, cuz they are rare vs dime a dozen cars like new camaro's and vette's.
