Don't knock it, but I'd like a bike that glows with the police reflective white for paint.... Just to say I did it.... Would be something else

Hows about cracking a signal flare and stuffing it under the tail section to keep the cars behind us a safe distance? Worth a try... Until you get the parent on the cell phone who plows you through a stopped light cause they couldn't see you through the cloud at 40mph

It's all relative to the speed your going.

What kind of jacket do you suggest? I've been reading in the gear forum but haven't really found an answer really but is A* a reptubable street brand? I know there off road stuff is good. i like this jacket http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...er-Jacket.aspx because you can get the CE back protector but is there a better one for the money or a better brand maybe thanks-Q

1) take the MSF before you do anything bike
2) GSXR = bad first bike
3) yes color does effect visiblity, grey = worst, black = bad, red = good white/yellow = best visibilty wise.

like he said, and to add to it its all relative cause cagers usually dont see you anyway.. good luck and be safe.

do you rely on the color to make them see you. NO. but color does make a diff.

and as patrick stated and i agree, also a bright lid helps. people notice motion and adding bright colors makes your head stand out.

Go with the color schemes suggested. Remember that a cager will look past a bike to see if a car is coming, especially at night. That is the main reason why cars pull out in front of bike and pull over on them on the highway. They just aren't looking for bikes.

You have to be smart enough to not get into the situation where they can pull over/in front of you when you ride and you have to be able to ride well enough to get out of the way when it happens. Seconds count in those situations, let me tell you!

Once you take the MSF, you will have a book to practice the exercise until you are comfortable pushing it around like you will need to on the street.

Good luck with it!

I ride a yellow 250 with a headlight modulator ... three times now, I've almost been hit by a car simply because they didn't see me ... you can be bright pink with a flashing sign, but if the cagers are too lazy to turn their heads to do a head check before merging into your lane ... there's nothing you can do.

I try to be a visible as possible, but I know that there is that 10% out there that won't even bother to look, so ride approprietly and just as important, dress approprietly

I don't know about visibility but the two biggest motorcycle studies that I have seen Hurt report 4000 maids 900, both say that bright colored motorcycle were involved in relatively fewer collisions then those of more subdued colors.

I disagree that a color of a bike/gear makes a difference. I was wearing a flipping flourecent orange helmet while riding a bright yellow bike and I still managed to have a driver never see me.

But do as RacerX says, take the MSF first before even buying a bike, gear etc. Who knows, maybe you take it and spend the 160 or so bucks only to find out that it isn't your cup of tea. So it could save you a lot of money. Otherwise, it could just save your life.
