Finished My First Real Road Trip this Weekend

I took a trip this weekend to visit my brother at Laughlin AFB (Del Rio, TX) and rode around 350 miles each way, which is about 300 miles further than my previous high. I even went for a little trip into Mexico after the line to get back across the main border crossing was way too long and we heard about a small crossing on top of 'La Pressa de la Amistad'. (Lake Amistad Dam) It was a nice ride through town and then about 20 miles on a deserted road and the cross was on top of the dam with a nice view.

I got right at 50 mpg (cruising at 85 mph on a big thumper) and my friend got around 40. He's got a one tooth smaller front sprocket and about 75 lbs more than me.

My new magnetic tank bag was awesome.

Oh and the reason I'm wearing shorts in that one pic is because we were planning on just going across the border to eat breakfast & buy cheap tobacco & good cigars for golf later but the line to get back into America was outta control. The lady at the toll booth told us we could ride to the border crossing on top of the dam about 20 miles away and it turned out to be a nice ride and a nice view from the top of the dam.
