try machintools.com

have you started the north harris class yet? I checked the school out a few years ago and wasnt impressed. Never really been impressed with the knowledge of the students Ive hired either. I always tell anyone who wants to be machinist to find a small shop and become a grunt.

Since your only using it for a hobby, it should suit you fine. Although a manual lathe is pretty basic. I could probably show you everything you wanted to know in a couple of hours (as far using the lathe and what theyll teach you in the class). Almost all of the guys I had on our manual lathes, came from sweeping the floor.

Let me know if you need help
