I'm just an old fat dumb , but if this happened to me and I thought it was a mechanical failure, I would have taken Patrick's offer (or someone else with suspension expertise) to evaluate it immediately.

no, wait... that aircraft engineer guy Tango-something said it failed, and it is obvious to him and his engineer;they are building titanium parts for free so everyone can be safe on those 675's!

Did someone say FREE? I thought he was getting the part donated to him for free and the donor gets a discount.
Everywhere Tango goes there is always a money making scheme. He is really a good business man.

Heres the physics, for the common man.

Take off your belt. Let it hang slightly loose, one end in each hand. Now pull one hand up and away from the other. What happens? The middle of the belt rises. In what motion? As your hands get farther away from each other the belt rises faster and faster, even if you pull at a constant speed. This is why the shock has a "rising rate" linkeage.

This one obviously broke when someone pulled the "belt" too quickly with too much force. I'd double these up with longer bolts if I owned a 675.

A little deeper: The triangle is in tension just like the belt. The left end eventually goes to the frame, the other the swingarm. As the swingarm goes up, the distance between the two ends gets larger, the pivot (bottom) moves up, compressing the shock via the triangle.

Deeper still: A different length lower arm can be swapped out to change the overall rising rate, across all parts of the swigarm travel. To fine tune certain parts of the travel, a slight change in the shock mount location on the triangle can be used to counteract the rising rate and fine tune. Moving it closer to the main pivot makes it simple rising rate. Moving it up and away creates another effect where, like a crankshaft, the degrees of rotation must be understood to predict shock movement. You can actually counteract rising rate at a different lowering rate to make the shock behave like rising rate in the top ad bottom of travel, and be very linear in the meat of the travel. Good for absorbing small highway imperfections, providing stable feedback when loaded in turns, and resist bottoming at extreme loads. It's simple, but a good knowledge of calculus and physics is needed to calculate exactly what each change will do. SOH CAH TOA. And you have to know the damping properties of the shock and the rising rate of the spring to really know how to dial it in for any given shortcoming in performance.
