get her a cheap older one after she has taken the MSF course. it'll keep her off the back of your's which is more fun

i would have her take a MSF course to teach her the basic riding skills so she can learn and get the feel of a bike. i would rather pay 150 for a course and learn something than be stuck with a bike that she would only ride a few times if she ever lost interest

My wife has a '07 GSX-R600 in the avitar. I don't own a bike but she is nice enough to let me ride hers when I am on good behaviour.

Nothing is wrong with her wanting her own bike I would just be worried about her is all. Any bike I buy will be in my name, I'm no fool when it comes to that lol.

ZXALAN - Don't think that idea hasn't crossed my mind

Maybe I will set up a time for us both to take the MSF course that way she could learn to ride and I could get a discount on my insurance

He never said he had a problem with it. He just asked what course of action should be taken.

I agree with others. Sign her up for a MSF course (and go with her even if you've done it before). Let her get instruction on riding.

If she does well and wants more, get her a small beginners bike. If she likes the "sportbike" look, Ninja 250 is the way to go. If she likes cruisers, there are many small displacement cruisers out there as well.

Let her get a lot of miles on it then let the chips fall where they may as far as upgrading bikes down the road.

*Just my opinion*
