I have a bachelor in Accounting but I am not an accountant. I just studied accounting so nobody would steal from me when I got into business. College now is a blur I don't remember ANYTHING I learned there. I wish I had the money back.

I think only thing college is good for is to help you get your foot in the door of a company. It lets a company know that you got the and the tenacity to finish something.

I knew thats what I was going to do. There was no use me committing to all those student loans and not get what I was supposed to out of it. I saved myself the financial trouble, went and got into drafting, and I'm making more than all of my friends with degrees. They all have 20-40k in loans to pay off. I know I got lucky, not to mention, I'm not eligible for some job positions, but I made the right choice for myself. I still think a degree is the way to go. At least thats what I will preach to my kids.

Got a BBA with a major in Marketing and a minor in International Business. Graduated this May 2007 with highest honors. Busted my for this one while working full-time. I learnt a lot in college and it definitely helped me understand my corporation I work for a heck of a lot better. Planning on doing my PMP next spring and a lot of the stuff for the PMP was actually included in the college material.

I think you get out of college as much as you put in it. It definitely helps to go as an adult as you have a totally different focus and understanding.

+1 It weeds out the ones with ADD. That's why I fail.

Now, had I had the tenacity to be this committed, college could have done me wonders. But being the I was at 18, it would have been a waste of time.

i was told when i was hired for my first job; we didn't hire you becuase if what you think you know or what you do know, we hired you because you spent 4 years saying you wanted to do this so we're going to give you a shot. 90% of what you need to know is OJT, not in school
