thats right, Christians who are firm believer's in don't want the influence of there not being one. It would be like schools having career days promoting stripping to your kids. Its a good living, do you want that for your daughter? Its legal, pays more than 90% of us on this board, but I know I don't want my daughter doing it. I think I would be offended if my child's school allowed people to come in and promote stripping as a career. Of course I know women that have done it for years, their husbands don't work and they are a 150k/yr household. As parents, we have to pick and choose the influence we want on our kids according to our own influence. And we have to shelter them from the different things we think can be negative to them. Would you allow your kids to watch at age 5? I'm sure they have seen their parents nakid. I won't allow mine to do that. Just because I feel it isn't apropriate, while some other parents would.

Speaking of that I was looking at an anti-drug site, and their only reason for kids not to smoke is that they might have if they smoke.

lol, you have to admit, that and alcohol do kinda open the door for it. I think that is hilarious. I never thought of it that way. I think that is retarded as the only reason, but oh well. To each their own.

I'm not saying it's not true, but if that's the worst that can happen it's not going to stop anyone from smoking.

I'm not a smoker, but I have in the past, and this never once crossed my mind as something to stop me. In fact, I probably would have smoked more.

Instead of sheltering them, they should be given the tools to deal with them. It's a much better life skill because parents aren't always around.

What you might think is negative, may be ordinary and acceptable for other people. You can't shelter kids from this. It's out there. They will see it.

The whole sheltered living is a dangerous thing in my opinion. Because people can't shelter 24/7, they'd rather ban, or make things illegal. They want a christian state. Phooey! If you* want a country governed by religious law, move to the middle east.

*not directed at you in particular, just anyone in general

Yea, but you can't let them be exposed and influenced to EVERYTHING that someone else may find acceptable. It is up to the parent to pick and choose. I think a direct attempt to question someone's faith is affecting a MAJOR part of a person's life if they are Christian.

True, but my point was, you can't alway control it. It's like the lady that sued a theater because it was showing the play "The Monologues" and was so upset because her daughter asked about vaginas. They just happened to drive by the theater. I mean, c'mon!

Of course, she sued.

Perhaps, but after all, it's just a movie. Some people think EVERYTHING should be questioned. I've always felt that if you are so opposed to questioning faith, then you have too much doubt in your own faith to begin with.
