For the use the power responsibly crowd... Thats laughable at best. Spooling the rear from a antifreeze puddle or some broke 's oil leak gets newbies in serious trouble on a litter bike. knows how wonderfully clean our streets are...

There is a reason insurance rates are sky high for liter bikes. Its called Claims.
and thats not every squids claim to know how to ride them....

Go to Golliad or Baytown to see just how far you can push that 600.
that'll get you in trouble on a 250, when i was 15 i laid down a 125 enduro that way. the bike being a literbike has nothing to do with what happens when you hit oil or antifreeze in a corner.

and i'd be up for a drag strip day on a sunday

I had everything done to the 636 that i could do without crackin the case to swap cams and all that mess. It is geared -1 on the counter sprocket, full Akra race exhaust, BMC filter and a PCIII USB. Bike runs like a raped ape for a 600 but i just wanted more power. The 636 was a good jump from the gsxr 600 i had but i got used to it and wanted more. I have all the physical mods done to it as well. Last thing i would have done would have been the Vortex rearsets and it would have been totally decked the way i wanted it. My girl scored big when i handed that one to her. Still has low miles on it and it came with everything done to it already and the bike was taken care of religiously.

I just wanted more power at the turn of the wrist. Didnt care so much about top speed as i ride the street so i would very rarely ever be close to that but the added high end is nice. I just wanted to get more for less like someone else said. I am completely satisfied with the 10r. Its WICKED! On the 600's, you would have to get it up in the RPM's to really feel it pull. On the 10r, i can be in 6th gear doing only 45 or 50 at 2000rpm and pull the throttle and IT GOES!! If you downshift it than your really in for a treat! I now have all the exact same mods i have done to the 636 done to the 10r. Not much more i can do to it now but wow is it ever fun to ride! I thought about going with a zx14 but didnt for 2 reasons. I didnt want that much more weight and im still into the twisties every now and then. Im not trying to drag knee but just get down on it pretty good. The 10r still allows me to do that with ease.

IMO, step up man! You want more power, get it! The jump from a 600 to a 1000 is huge but with respect, can be ridden and handled just as easily!! Its just way more fun and way more power!!!! Ive heard some guys say they have gone 1 down in the front and 2 up in the rear with the riflemans 1/5 throttle insert. To me, that sounds like murder! The bike is already hard enough to keep the front end down stock and with what i have, even harder. Couldnt imagine the additional 2 up in the rear and the 1/5 insert!! Gotta be rediculous!!!

Oh and id be up for a drag strip meet too! Gotta get boots and full leathers but i wanna run mine. With a professional rider and with my mods, my bike should go low 9's. Id be happy to get a 10 second time or even a low 11 out of it though. At stock height and stock swingarm, i wont be able to launch worth a flip and im not trying to loop it. Ill be easing it out on the clutch and mashin on it once i get rollin a little.

this board moves fast.

Once again, a lot of good info has been posted up. I called Motorcycles Unlimited and will probably pick up a front gear for the bike for the of it and see how that feels. After I get used to that I will probably keep my eye out for a gsxr 750/1k or a 1k RR. I probably won't be hitting the track that often, I just like having a lot of power.

WTF is strapped?
Been racing with the family's cars at Heartland Park since they built it but I have never dragged bikes. I am sure mechanically they are much different, but what is strapped?

you take a ratchet strap to compress the front forks, to lower the bike in the front, thus helping transfer some weight to the front to keep wheelies to a min.

variety is the key, being able to adapt to your surroundings (different type bikes) will only benefit you BC. You're doing fine and making some great decisions.

Well its a race car... and its not RWHP its FWHP Its nicely built. Has a GT42r (capable of 1100hp) He ran about 3 times best of the night was 6.50@117 1/8th (est. low 10, high 9 1/4mile?) Only had the car out twice and he is still doing some fine tuning.. cause its running diff. boost in each gear to keep traction issues to a minimum.

Its one nasty mug.
