10W40 MOTUL FTW....don't ask why...it's what I use and never any problems....I only base my opinion on personal experience.

elf oil makes 10-60 and i usually run elf, got a good deal on some and im not sure which to choose

Very true. I think the price is initially $25 and they will work with you on fine tuning if needed.

most manuals say 10w40. but they distribute the same manual with bikes that go to new york as the ones that go to death valley. good manuals also have a chart like this that shows you what to use.

BUT ---

i know reading charts is beyond some people here, so suffice it to say in houston heat something like 20w50 is advised.
