Race Schools

In your opinion, What is the best race school for the money?
I'm looking to hone my skills and learn from some of the best.

What school do you think you get the better bang for you buck and why?

Larry Meyers private lessons. He has the ability to really relate the info you need, and dosen't waste your class time with "I remember this one time..." stories. The day is ALL about you and what you need to do to get faster. I've done Ty's class three times in the past and learn something each time, but the high numbers in his classes mean less 1-1 time. Larry is teaching 1 on 1 at MSRH now any day of the week, and it's just you, or he has a deal if you get a buddy to sign up with you. 500.00 for the day or 900.00 for two. You won't find that kind of private instruction ANYWHERE.

Ty's 1 on 1 class is $500( I think) & he teaches out of MSR Cresson

Pridmore comes to town at least once a year, may look up his website.

I have also heard good things about Kevin Schwantz's school at Road Atlanta.

Mr Whoopie & I did a 2 day with Mike Sanchez back in December. I think it was like $600 each for each of us for 2 days - the best money I've spent on racing. Mike explains things really well. I would definitely do it again (and 2 days if definitely the way to go if you can).

Also, Kevin Scwantz Suzuki School is supposed to be the best. Gabe Sanchez even recommended it - big bucks though. $1800 (with bike) for 2 day, $2900 for 3 day + airfare and hotel. He just posted the 2008 schedule last week and some dates are already sold out.

My plan is to hit Spencer's school at Miller, Schwantz next year. I've done the Code school (many years ago) and some time with Ty. One of my best instructors was John Whitfill- local guy whom I race with.

A buddy of mine just hit up Spencer's school and raved about it. Brand new bikes that are well set up, and more track time than you can stand. I can't remember the cost, but for some reason $1300 for 1 night and 2 days is stuck in my head.

You can check the web sites for any of these.

For the first time schooler, I think Code puts on one of the best! He's a little different... but fantastic for the basics.

Is that a total price including the track day and instruction?

Yes, 500.00 is your day at the track and Larry's personal instruction. Go durring the week and you'll probably have the whole place to yourselves. I'm going to be sampling Larry's school Friday........

sounds pretty cool. larry is a very fast rider too ....i'm sure he can get people moving as well! i'm interested in doing this...but will see when my schedule is going to be open. i'd rather let someone that i know, earn the money instructing me, then someone who just wants my money.

What???? the cost of living in Cali dosen't allow you these sort of days? Everyone here in TX has loads of expendable cash, why did you move again? Not that we miss you............

Do you know if he offers the noob class that you take on your 1st track day? That is what I will be after once it warms up again and this seems reasonable, price wise...

It's private instruction so it's geared to what ever level you find yourself. If I was starting out, knowing what I know after all this time, I'd sign up for a class first thing. Start with good habits so you don't have to relearn what you "thought" was correct form and position.
