I'm pretty sure it was a BR. It looks pretty much like the one in the pic. And it is a bit bigger than the one in your second pic.

Hmm.. if it was that big it may not have been a br. From what I've read, they are only about the size of a quarter, max. The big old wolf spider in my second pic is quite a bit larger than that.

The br has that fiddle/violin on it's back like the one you posted.. that's an instant identifier.

That one I saw was smaller than a size of a nickel. I don't know. Maybe I got the sizes all wrong from the pic. Hehe.

Banana Spiders are everywhere around here in the barn I board at and at my mom's ranch in central texas too. I had one crawling up my leg once when I was driving in my mom's car. I had shorts on. First I thought it was a cricket. Thank goodness I was the passenger and we were going down the driveway towards the property's gate because I jumped out of the driving car flipping the spider onto the gear stick. My mom had left the car's window open and the banana spider somehow got in.

A friend of mine who lives in central Texas has a 'keep sake box' in her freezer. It contains a baby rattle snake, a black widow, a brown recluse, scorpions and I forgot what the other thing is called.

The brown recluse is in the lower left corner, next to the scorpions.

A close up and comparison between the black widow and the brown recluse. She was going to turn them around so I could see their backs but I was freaked out enough as I was and her fibbling around her fingers in the box made me nervous as heck!

I used to be an electrician. I was never afraid of spiders till one day crawling under a house I got caught up in the weirdest web I have ever felt. You all know what most spider webs feel like. Sticky but light. Well this web crackled and was really strong and thick. I ended up with a black widow on me. I will ALWAYS know when I am in a black widow's web. I have been terrified of spiders ever since. Can't stand going into crawl spaces on houses now. Banana spiders, and wolf spiders are ok. On farms they are everywhere, but thos dang widows and recluses are terrifying. You can give me snakes any day. Poisonous or not, but don't get me near spiders.

My wife has been bitten twice by brown recluse spiders, both times in our bed. First time made her sick for a week and both left nasty scars. It freaked us out enough to by a new mattress.

I don't blame you for buying a new bed! She was lucky she was only sick for a week. I heard from folks that they were sick for up to 3 mo and one almost lost a hand. Does fogging get rid of them?

I heard that black widows are resistant to most pesticides and foggers. The only sure way to get rid of them is to kill them and take down their webs with the eggs.

The one in my garage died fairly quickly from my spider killer. When I used to work out at the S&S plant in Sealy, there were TONS of black widows and I mean TONS of them hiding every where on those trucks.

We would kill them with Brake-kleen brake cleaner.
