Supermoto...

Whats the big hype about it? other than them being really fast and cool to build? I thought it was basically MX on concrete w/ street tires, jumps and all...but I youtube'd some SM races and alot of them seem to be flat tracks w/ tight turns and minimal obstacles/jumps...enlighten a noob please...

have you ever wanted to road race?

have you ever wanted to ride dirt?

have you ever wanted to have your rear wheel kicked out next to you?

have you ever wanted to jump a bike?

have you ever wanted to take a really tight turn (hairpin) carrying a lot of speed?

have you ever wanted to ride on both the road and offroad on the same bike?

if you've answered "No" to any of these, supermoto may not appeal to you.

actually i answered no to half of those questions cliff

i like the supermotos obviously not because their fast. they are in no way, shape or form, a "fast bike". especially when comparing them to inline 4 bikes.

for me, it's the comfort of the riding style, the bike is lighter and easier to flick around, you can ride them more loosely then you would a big bike....and when you crash, it's not as expensive to fix.

i don't take it as hating at all. I'd like you to give it a shot. To me, nothing is fun to watch. It's always way more fun to go out and do it. I'd let you ride any of my bikes at the right time and place.

i guess my question should have simply been:

"Would you like to try something new?"

lol right on! but my main question is...are jumps and MX type obstacles a big part of SM? I think that would be the best part...

oh and i know a guy who is selling a YZ426 so...its a possibility...gotta get the girly to approve of a new project though...

i think the typical SM course is aimed to be setup 70% road 30% dirt or maybe its 80%/20%.

sheeet,
you shoulda came out to the races on saturday Tony. I doubt theres a sport bike on earth that coulda taken that tight track as fast as those guys were(jumps excluded of course). Probably be a different story on a big track though.

supermoto not fast???

should have seen them accelerate off the corners like a ROCKET and then slam the gears down and brake HARD then drift into a hairpin corner..

That was some of the most exciting and close racing I have seen in a while.

Those who didn't attend missed an excellent event by top-level riders.

SM is the new big thing, at least around here anyway. It's roots go back many many years.

They are way more fun to ride than a big bike IMO of course.

it's something you just have to try out i guess.

at first, i had no desire to ride one but, the day i got the chance to ride one, i did it for a friend that said he hated riding it so i offered to trade for 1 single session so he could ride my 636, i came in after riding it, and never looked back at the 636 that day.

i agree 110% with you on that. It was simply amazing to watch the pro's do their thing! even the few female racers were exciting to watch race!

i guess i should've clarified not "fast".....i meant for our roadracing tracks we run.

don't get me wrong, they are still fast bikes....but i also stated in comparison to inline 4's.

Personally I have been into the Supermotos since they first appeared in the Xgames many moons back but, there as been little to no way to get involved with them in this area until recently. The cool thing about them is the blend of disciplines and the skills you pick up from them because of that.

yes and i fell in love with the new style of riding. it isn't that fast but, it has tons of torque.. it's a freaking wheelie monster from ..

i can't wait to hit the track on my newest addition. and then i'll decide what i want from there..
