CMRA or CCS? or BOTH?

okay, with CCS South coming next year. who's in and who's out?

from the look at their scheduled races, and after talking to Travis at the bike show. i'm almost sold on racing with CCS next season.

i'm not in it for contingency payouts or anything like that, as i'm in no way one of the front runners. i'm in it for the pure sport of being out there dicing it up with friends.

i'm either doing one or the other....whichever one best fits my needs i'll go with. If CCS's entry fees and such are WAY more than CMRA.....i'll stick to the CMRA. but if we see comparible or lower prices, i may jump on CCS.

one of the reasons why i am leaning more towards CCS is the fact that they are running 5 out of 10 races close to home and of course the chance to run barber and daytona. i guess we'll see how everything unfolds.

same as you, in it for the fun. If tracks close by and entry fee is reasonable.

per my conversations with Travis, entry fees SHOULD be lower than CMRA, but be advised there will be many riders racing both clubs so I do not expect the grids to be that much smaller.

You realize that post was started by Kevin Dennis of the CMRA? Why are they trying to tear the guy down I wonder? I don't know him form Adam, but if CCS reviewed his stats and ability and put him in Novice then what is the point other than to drag him through the mud, to discredit him in some way? Poor taste in any case. I took third overall in the CMRA RRC in 04, took second overall in B Superbike in 05, and was still a novice according to the CMRA. Which led to many podiums in 06 as a novice. None of which was sandbagging in the eyes of the CMRA which assigned me novice status for three years. Last year the CMRA dropped the novice to expert rating in order to get more experts on the grid or as I was told..." To allow friend to race with friends in the expert ranks". So it seemed to me the expert qualification was cheapened in some way. Rider index went from .60 to something like a .3xx, all to keep the expert grids full to qualify for MFG. contingency. For an organization that says they are primarily for "Novice club racing" didn't make much sense to me or many others. Most of the decisions seem to be for the benifit of the top 10-15 experts. I'm not going to get into a who's better than who argument, I didn't like the way the CMRA was going so I personally didn't give them dime one this year. And since they still don't look to be racing in Houston I will do the same next year. They say Houston is unsafe even after MSRH made all the changes they requested at considerable expence, yet they say OHR is a safe track to race and run it three times a year since it is so cheap and they make tons of money. Rider safety huh?

And besides that, what difference does Travis' status have to do with ANYTHING???

I do know Kevin started the post. I dont care about his status. But since I have never met the guy and dont know better. He appears to be quite self serving. I would wonder about his business practices as well.

for an old man he sure did stir up some ... IMO, the whole issue with this Travis guy should have been handled between the board of directors, and the people involved, that's it, not make a post on a public forum and get everyone else involved on things that aren't their business... but that's just me. Everyone will have their own opinion.

Aside from that... This thread isn't about that.... so with that said.. I think people will race on whichever benefits them better ($$, distance, tracks, etc.). CCS does have some great tracks on their calendar though!

i think many will be split on this... still i wonder if we have enough riders to cover both competing orgs sufficiently enough so that they (both) don't lose money in '08... :/:

CCS for me. Great schedule of tracks with 50% of them close to home.
I'm hoping for good quality racing with friends at more tracks we like.

Hopefully so. More racing opportunities available, the better. I know that more than a few riders from other CCS regions plan to race CCS South next year also which will help CCS South financially get rolling.

The distance thing is an issue for some. However, The CMRA though had 2 Hallet dates this year. Thats about 567mi (google maps) and approx 9hrs give or take a little. Personally, if I choose to race that far away, I'd rather drive an extra 1.5hrs to race at Barber than to race at Hallet.

Now the Daytona one, yeah thats far. My buddy who lives there will let me fly out there and use his R6 if I get to do that race

Everyone's situation is different and maybe one organization will suit some people more than others.

self serving??????

Travis ran 2:02's at TWS (Texas World Speedway) and got bumped. So he decided to take his money elsewhere. How many people that ran 2:02 times at TWS (Texas World Speedway) a few weekends ago do you think will be expert racers next year? zero

CMRA screwed up last year after making the call the 2nd time for additional riders to be bumped. Everyone knows it and that should be the end of it but for some reason people like to start .

Does anyone believe that Kevin would have made that post if Travis wasn't starting another series next year? no way

Why does there have to be so many haters? Look man.....I don't care if Mickey Mouse is starting the series. Twice the races means twice the track time for me, which means I'll progress twice as fast. Which is my goal. To be fast. Wouldn't it be nice if you could race somewhere EVERY weekend? You can play softball or soccer somewhere every weekend, so why not roadrace.

How many people have you met off the street thats been to a roadrace?
NONE

I tell people at work that I roadrace and all they have to say is "them dirtbikes sure are dangerous." It's like a F***in mystery man..... No one even knows about this sport. When I attended my first race I said to myself "where has this been my whole life." Ask yourself that folks. Where has it been?

Lets spread the word about the sport so more fans can enjoy it and more riders can enjoy it instead of hating on someone who is already trying to spread the word......or start another series.

Just like Walter said at the riders meeting couple months back.. "we're in the customer service business guys."

schedule is not 100% up yet.

although after speaking with travis at the bike show....the 1st race of the year will be feb 3, 2008 at MSR-Houston

www.ccs-south.com

maybe email him and ask to be kept in the loop as far as scheduling will go.

I'm sure local people will do local races, and some people will do a whole schedule.

CCS has been here before, and it didn't work out too well for them then, but maybe they'll be able to stick around this time and work with CMRA at the same time.

Regarding the whole thing about the dude that's starting the series, I could care less. I think he's less than honorable for running the CCS series as a novice and then bragging about it on his web site after he had a very successful series with WERA National as an expert this year. However, he's the one that has to live with that, not me.

I don't care about CCS personally, my sprinting days are done and they don't run endurance.

Good luck to all those who race this year
