i ate at matsusaka, i thought it was pricey for avg quality.
There is a review in the paper that says sushi jin or something like that, in katy area, is supposedly very good since he does not use the same fish as the ones everyone else gets from the same distributors. He owns his own fish company so he sends it supposedly daily from the westcoast and japan.

Aki on Eldridge is ok,
Sake lounge in downtown used be good to bring dates,
But if you want real stuff,
Hong Fish on N. Gessner ftw.
Can be a bit pricey (expect to pay average $50 per person), but man they have the best ones!!!

If anyone knows a sushi restaurant specializes in handling blowfish(can be poisonous), please lemme know!

It's a sports bar that serves sushi.
Atmosphere is pretty friendly...

OK, there is a NOAA buoy about 100 miles south of the island of Hawaii. You can catch mahi and yellow fin there all day. Get your yellow fin, cut off one side, let the other half flop on deck, cut your fillet into strips, enjoy. Once you've your Ahi THAT fresh, you are ruined. While you are at it, mix up some Poke too.. I miss truly fresh sashimi.

Redfish Grill on 249 @ Cypresswood is good. Very affordable and you get a huge roll (approx 14 pieces) for the same price you get an 8 piece roll everywhere else.

my Happy Hour budget sushi is on Richmond called Oishii! Man, My gf and I can leave there full and drunk for under $40.

For the quality sushi, I take her to Ginza on San Felipe. I love that place, as it is very traditional Japanese.
