When I was in jail on my reckless two weeks ago, one of the sheriff's deputies was telling me about how he's pulled over a Travis County Sheriff's deputy on 59 down by Victoria on his way to Corpus for doing 120+ in his unmarked patrol car.

The Travis Co. Dep. told the Jackson Co. Dep. that he was on his way to the beach for the weekend. The cop I was talking to said that he wrote the other cop a ticket anyway because he was going so fast. (and here I am sitting in jail for 96 in a 65 while this cop is telling me about writing another cop a ticket for 120 in a 70, but I digress)

So anyway, he goes on to tell me that the Travis Co. Dep. never paid the ticket, and so a couple months later they called his boss up in Austin and explained the speed, location and that he was in his patrol car. His boss was livid and said that the deputy had actually been on his way to an official function in Corpus. He said that he'd make sure the ticket got paid quickly.

I was like WTF!?!?

And here I sit. Oh well, I'd cut my friends breaks too if I could.

I would have asked for his sargent to come out in this case. 90mph is laughable.

+25 mph over the speed limit is now a reckless driving charge.

Try to follow along.

The original comment was about a PO not getting a ticket and getting a written warning instead from a DPS officer.

You commented that you thought he only got off because he was a cop, and was shown special treatment.

I commented that I have been pulled over on a couple of occasions and received written warnings as well, and wondered what you thought the excuse was since I in fact am not a police officer.

You then ranted and called me a dumbass (I think twice...), and spouted a conspiracy theory about how cops only let other cops off, and they should have their license revoked instead.

I continued to try to explain, but it apparently didn't work, so I'll just leave you with your ignorance and bow out of this one- I'm wasting my time trying to explain.

Please, continue.

I've gotten more than my share of warnings. I've found that pulling over immediately and being polite and respectful goes a long way.

That's why I was pretty upset (to say the least) when the sheriff's deputy told me he was taking me in for 31 over.

I wouldn't have minded the ticket one bit, since I agreed that I deserved it. , I'm not even really about going to jail, even though I feel is justified - but I have gotten tickets for FAR higher speeds from DPS before and never been to jail.
