Sweet! Chances are, I've met your dad because I used to shoot out there all the time.

Thanks for reminding me. It shouldn't be any later than 2PM. Just show up as early as possible so you can get out early if needed.

got some friends coming and some questions

holsters required ? since you have to draw ?
at least 2 mags right ?

going to share my gun with a friend and a co-worker might do the same

are the stages fun/interesting ? is this more of a speed thing or accuracy

thx

Holster has to be a conceal rig. It can be IWB or OWB. Only stipulation I can see is light can not shine through between the paddle or loops. Same thing for the mag holders. You will need a conceal garment. A lot of us use 511 vests and it works well because it is stiff and easy to fling out of the way.
I don't think there is a mag limit, but I could be wrong. I just have one of my pocket. One in the gun (only after load and make ready, these guys run a cold range), and two on my mag holder making a total of 4 mags. With 1911s, it would be more than 4.
Sharing guns are allowed, but might be troublesome because you have to switch rigs every time you get into a stage. There are areas where you can do that. Make sure you let the RO knows that you need to space your friend and yourself between other shooters so you guys can have time to switch equipment.
Stages can be fun/interesting, but they can also be challenging. I would not worry about speed too much. Concentrate on accuracy. Make sure to be as smooth as you can. Remember. Smooth is fast. And throwing ammo down range without hitting your target is a waste of resources (ammo and $$) imo.

It is only a game, but also a great way to practice. The SA holsters are paddle right? I think you should be fine, but if that will be your main carry firearm, then I suggest you look into something better. Just a suggestion.

Also forgot the mention IDPA is limited to 10rds per magazine. I know it's stupid, but if you have high capacity magazines, then just put 11 rds on your first mag, and 10 on the rest then you should be fine.

I've shot IPSC a couple of times, and I like it. I think I prefer that more and it is more run and gun than IDPA. I need to do IPSC again. Hehe.

Ever seen Julie Goloski shoot IPSC? She used to be sponsored by Glock and now she shoots for Smith and Wesson. She's my hero not to mention hot! Don't tell my gf that because she will kill me.

It's a little late, but I found out from the match director himself that the match is cancelled due to the incoming weather. Let me know if you guys want to head out to an indoor range instead.
