D and D is practically a straight pipe with little baffling; louder then the muzzys I've heard on same bikes(mainly gsxrs) With D and D you pay high price for the finish and even on their website they talk about the label color not fading over time then they do the performance...

My SMEG is pure auditory . Neighbors likely don't share my view regarding my system, especially at 2:00 AM, but oh well...

If you do get a SMEG, I highly reccomend the ceramic coating. It's cool being able to touch the headers 5 minutes after a hard run and not burn your hand.

There is a used Brock SMEG on psychobike.com for sale right now for the busa, I think it was $500....

My personal favorite pipe is the Brock Gen 3 Streetsmart..... it makes the same power as the street meg but its quieter, looks better, has more ground clearance etc. I want one in carbon fiber for my 1k.

Leo Vince.....my uncle (level5) has the full titanium on his 06' r6 racebike, sounds badass.

i also run Leo Vince on my 600rr.....sounds badass in the mid-high range, good performance gains, and DEFINATELY a quality made product with top notch craftsmenship in it. you can tell by looking at the welds, rivets, can assembly, and fitment.

i ran D&D on my 1000rr, it had a good rumble on idle, but got obnoxiously loud in the high rpms. didn't bother me for a long time, but neighbors started calling cops when i came home at 2-3am coasting in IDLE down the street.

Loud pipes save lives: I'm sure that the people in this world that have survived when their car was hit by a train will tell you, they didn't hear jack until it hit them. Loud pipes cannot be heard in a cage until after you pass the car.

As far as pipes go, if you go w/ a quality mfr. you will get quality sound.

Best bang for the buck more and more is Leo Vince. Akra/Arata are always good, but Leo is becoming more and more my favorite pipe(s)...

Loud pipes are cool/annoying but they sure don't save lives.
They help.. think about it... when u see/hear a car with a loud fart can that sounds like it has rocks clackin in a can u would look right? that catches attention right? if theres a loud bike sittin there or riding u would hear it. i have d&d that i got from house of pain.. loud as ... and i love it. lady accross the street bitched about it and i laughed. if she can here it and then i know its doing its job.

The full D&D systems do suck but the slip ons/bolt ons will gain you 2-3hp over a stock can...I gained 3hp on my 1000.....A couple days ago I put my stock can back on just to try it out.....it sucked, it definetly choked it down after 10k rpms....the next day I put the D&D back on....it makes noticeable improvement after 9k rpms..... Mine is loud but not near as loud as most of them are, not sure why....its loud at WOT , not really raspy at all like usual, but around town and at idle, its really civil...plus they look good(when you remove the D&D faag tag).
