Look at fork seal, chain, brake, any motor noise, test ride to see if it has tranny problem. Does that help?

dont buy unless you know what you're getting yourself into.

i'd wait for the dad to come around if he knows better (which he probably assumes he does).....or find a knowledgeable friend to come along. would suck to buy a bike.....and have all sorts of jacked up issues with it when you get home.

some models of the FZR had transmission problems.

insist on a test ride and check all the gears. my old 1990 fzr 1000 had a bad second gear. ive heard some other models had similar probs.

also, i heard some models of FZR had probs with the molex plug where the ignition meets the harness under the tank can overheat and melt.

its an easy fix, but a pain to have happen. of course this bike may or may not have any of these problems, but that is just what ive experianced/heard.

other than that, they are good bikes overall. the FZR's were notoriously powerful for their day, pushing more HP than the rest (though they weighed a bit more). mine was fun to ride, and having an old school bike can be cool. at least you wont have 1 of the same 4 bikes 90% of the community has..

thats where i took my msf when i was 15. rick is a great instructor. I'm 17 as well and have bought several bikes on my own over the past couple years. Like said before, check for motor noise, frame for cracks, tranny noise, look to see if everything lines up, isnt tweaked or whatnot. ask for maintenance records if hes got them. Check condition of tires, and any squeaks or anything abnormal

The YZF600 is pretty bulletproof. Check to see if it's been laid down and running condition.
If you can, bring it by the shop and I'll do a visual inspection and test drive, free of charge.
