No they don't normally whistle, perhaps that was you. People who see them often release a subconcious whistle.

The Rc51's run hot as is, can you imagine the thermal management issues when you add a turbo?

I don't whistle. No, my eyes open wide and my jaw drops. If the RC has Sato pipes...I get a nice feeling in my groin area
Should work as a drag bike w/out overheating, no?

RC51s have gear driven cams so you get a lot of gear whine, sounds a lot like an old roots style supercharger....THATS probably what you heard...

I dont know about the RC51 but have some experiences with turbo Busas, they respond very well to this did 1 one time that dyno,d 601 rwhp, seen it run 7.1 at 199mph standing start quarter at HRP, talking about making ur hair stand on end Has to be seen to be believed left a slightly modded busa for dead, and it ran high 9,s

was that sarcasm?

Seriously, I think this thing would be a freakin' beast. Turbo lag would be non exhistent with the amount of air the RC moves just idling. I do think it would require a good tuner to make a reliable setup though.

I'd rather turbo a busa than a rc anyday. rc's are fun but having a front wheel in the sky at all times would suck. And nothing would look worse than a streched rc
i went looking at busa's today and boy I sure could put one to use

Yeah and busas make more torque and a lot more HP to start with also...parts are way more readily available for when you melt stuff....(which you will with a turbo).

Witch, were you looking at new 08s or used busas?

I love how V-twin sportbikes sound...I think a better setup for an RC would be a supercharger....then you can still run your full race exhaust for that killer sound, but also have the whining of a screw-charger on it, adding about 80-100hp....It would be a lot more progressive and linear then a turbo......Turbos=violent...

Seen a few rotax screw chargers on busas and 1000s, its pretty killer....no lag, very smooth...Don't make the tq or HP the turbo does but.....its still PLENTY...
