If you can hurl a bike like that, you'll win by default.

Never, EVER get caught in the sonic boom wash of a ZX-14.

That photo is real, the back fat on the soon to faceplant rider is real, and sadly, the brand--slobbing 2 piece duds are real, and apparently unfastened.

He knew that he could not win so he flipped it. This is the same as the runner in last place pulling up with the "hamstring injury".

I imagine that he had a dead-man's switch on the bike. When he came off it likely pulled the lanyard and the motor was killed - headlight off.

Did you notice the filter on the lower faring? Look closer and you can see the turbo. That's a lot of power - I'm sure he launched too hard.

yup, turbo.. if you read thru the thread he doesn't remember the wreck or why it happened.

Plus he admitted to being a dumbass for not zipping up!

In Busa Daves own words:

thanks guys !! bah WOW that is the first time I seen that I dont remember nothing but that right foot i broke the toe and the back of the leg (tibia) the right foot was just beat up but nothing broke in it. had a bad concussion but Im ok .don't know about the bike yet but it does'nt look to bad.

I dont know I dont remember nem or E can tell you

what they told me it went up very fast after 100 ft about 70 mph.

This from "Nem":

Scary for sure! I was right there at the beams to the left of him.

From what I remember he staged good with the high rpm and everything, but before he launched he droped his rpm quite a bit before he threw the clutch. Which I think caused him to be in the torque band, building boost and lock up kicking in all at once. He also wasn't using his rearsets or launch pegs so once it started coming up it seemed that he didn't have the strength to chop it in time with the wheelie pulling him back.

That's pretty much how I remember it, but when stuff like that happens and happens quick its hard to see everything.

New here.. followed link from the original posting of this pic on the org (which was from me)..

only want to mention a couple things.. dont' wanna stir any trouble... (since I noticed a couple were upset at some things said over there and vice versa)

But as for the lanyard getting pulled and shutting the motor off.. that lanyard actually failed.. it was one of those rubber coiled type.. the rubber end broke off from teh metal clip that went to his jacket or glove.. when I noticed that and picked the remaining tether up to show the others and gently pulled the tether to stretch it out the other end broke at the plastic clip part.. left the plastic clip part still in the kill switch ...

Some disconnect their headlights when at the track.. so it's not always an indication the motor is off.. but in this case I can't recall when the bike shut down whether it was while it was up in the air or after it tipped over enough on it's side for the tilt switch to do it...

my other comment would be: I thought the same thing when I saw how clear and crisp that initial photo was - amazed at how it was so perfect it looked fake.. but trust me it was far from being edited.. .as you can see in the following subsequent photos take with random clicking of the shutter with no time for true focusing of the lense like the initial photo taken. It was def scary to witness and I dont' wish this on any of us riders to have to see a good freind go down in such a fashion.

Wear your gear and be careful no matter what or how you ride.. we have enough against us as it is..

tks for allowing me to intrude ..

E.
