are you kidding me?

read this!! offer birth control(BC) to girls as young as 11? This makes me sick. Parents should educate their children more. I think this will mess with girls taking BC so young. It'll throw their cycle off if they miss a pill, could eventually effect if they can have kids or not. This makes me mad....UGH!!!

Wow, but it's not like they just pulled it out of their .

"After an outbreak of pregnancies among middle school girls"

As far as being worried about them ever having kids... chances are if they are this daring, bold and ignorant now, I don't want them reproducing, EVER!.

I was the same way, but I know some of my friends are having what they though was in middle school.

I have a 12 year old brother who still plays with cars all the time. He's a good kid. My mom is a substitute teacher at his school, and she's always talking about the 11 and 12 year olds that show up every day with gross, nasty hickies, and stuff.

So I'm not sure anything has changed when I was that age, it's just more out in the open. :dontknow:

ed never did anything for kids in school except get them out of real class work. I never once paid attention to those. I was taught my morals by my parents and I really wasn't even interested till late in high school. Being taught by my PARENTS is the real answer, not ed.

I was raised old fashioned and plan to raise mine the same way. All starts with respect in the home.

My ed class wasn't about morals that I can remember, it was about the facts, functions and locations.

For some reason parents in this country can't talk about without using stupid names.. like tweeter, and swimsuit places.

Birds and the bees? Storks? I think the biggest problem is that parents who are even willing to attempt talking to their kids, wait too long.

My talk actually came from my aunt at the age of 10 I think. hehe

I didn't get the talk. Again, if you are taught how to correctly respect people. You can have enough respect to stay out of those situations. I do agree with your description of ed classes. All I remember is asking questions like if suran wrap works as a contr. or all the pics of nasty diseases.

True, however...

Do you plan on spending every minute of the day with them? Parents can only teach their kids what they should do, be an example, and hope they make smart choices. Teaching kids about is doing what? Teaching them how to have ! It's not a guarantee they won't do it.

Take for instance me. I learned how to smoke pot from a DARE officer. He taught us all about it, made us aware of everything the same way a teacher would do with ed. But do you think that kept me and many others from at least trying it? no, because now we knew what we were doing. (sort of...)

From an early age, you've got to teach kids accountability/responsibility for their actions.

my thoughts exactly. the first thing people want to say every time something bad happens is how it's a sign of the times, and things were never like this when they were a kid. sometimes it may be true, but i bet there were lots of kids getting pregnant in the 50s, and long before. i'd be interested to see if there's any objective evidence of the 'demoralization' of our society.

i agree...i just meant that all too often parents are more worried if their kid likes them rather than making the tough decisions that molds a responsible adult.

lmao girl since when speaking to the teens works for anything?

teens nowadays are daring and wild, they need some sort of discipline

not just a sweet talk, and arturo is right at age 13 they are sexually active. not all but a lot of them

Actually you go back even further, marriages were arranged by the time girls were 13-14. That was not only ok, but very common. In the last 100 years society has decided that it is no longer ok. Having a daughter now, i don't object at all.
