sprockets

i have a 2006 zzr600.its the same as a 1998-2000 zx6r.im looking for input on a sprocket swap.im thinking just -1 in front and no change to rear.not looking to stunt.just want more go with out the wheelies.im thinking the chain i have will still work, but im worried cause im only 5/8" from all of the way out on the rear wheel.i know the usual is -1 front +1 in rear.how is just -1 front?
