I am going to step up to liter need ideas...

What bike should I get? Im selling my kawi and want to go up in the world to something a bit faster. I already have a year or riding and a bunch of riding under my belt. But the 636 just doesnt do it for me anymore http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=38607

even after all the mods lol I still go the bug to go faster so im looking for ideas. what are some of pro's and con's of all the different 1000's out there.

Kawi Zx-10
Pro: Its a kawi
Con: Heard the headshake is bad.
Gixxer 1000
Pro: Its a 1000
Con: seating position is too short compared to my current bike, plus everyone and their sister has one.
R1
Pro: SWEET LOOKING bike this is a big favorite to me.
Con: heard that 07 have ecu problems? but its covered by yamaha

was also looking at the 675's because i might want to stick with the 600's but not too sure yet. but if i do this is the bike ill pick
pro: sweet styling, 600, plus awesome colors
con: parts are $$ to mod.

so shoot me some pro's and cons, and if i missed any bikes feel free to list em.

What about Honda? Get the Repsol RR that bike is sick.

Also isn't the 675 actually a bit slower than the bikes? I heard it has more torque though.

pro: ? its a honda?
con: gauge cluster is old looking, if im buying a new bike i dont want to look at 80's styled gauge cluster....

and there was a write up posted on here on the 675 vs the gixxer 750 and they were even...

THE R1 WON THE LITER BIKE SHOOT OUT FOR 2007 DUE TO GOOD LOOKS, POWER DELIVERY AND WEIGHT. NEXT TO IT WAS THE HORRENDOUS GSXR1000 THANKS TO SMOOTH POWER DELIVERY AT ALMOST ANY RPM RANGE.
HONDA ENDED IN THIRD PRIMARELY DUE TO THE FACT THAT IS GOOD EVERYWHERE BUT DOESN'T QUITE STAND OUT ABOVE THE OTHERS IN A QUALITY-- STILL, IT WAS CONSIDERED THE BEST HANDLING AND CONFIDENCE INSPIRING BIKE.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST IS THE ZX10 BECAUSE OF OF THE SUSPENSION, HOWEVER, IT WAS THE FASTEST BIKE IN THE SWITCHBACKS AND HIGH SPEED TURNS IN GENERAL.

JUST GET THE BIKE YOU LIKE THE MOST REGARDLESS IF IT'S THE FASTEST OR NOT... BEING LITER BIKES NONE OF THEM WILL DISSAPOINT YOU.

There is a reason why there are so many Gixxers. I've ridden them all, and none will provide the amount of bottom end and mid range that the Gixxer has. It is the best 1000 by far, and it really struts on the track! I think you'll find the accomodations more appealing than you think.
If you want to know more, shoot me a PM and we can get together

the 675 is the fastest of the 600 bikes. lighter and more torque. only the r6 has more hp...and only by a couple.

IT DOES HAVE 75CC MORE THAN THE JAPANASE BIKES, GIVE 75 EXTRA CC'S TO A 600 AND IT'LL BE ABLE TO PUT UP WITH A 1000.

I'M NOT SAYING IT'S NOT FAST, BUT IT'S NOT FAIR FOR TRIUMPH TO HAVE A BIKE WITH 675CCs AND COMPETE WITH OTHER SUPER BIKES THAT ONLY HAVE 599CCs.
WELL, THE 675 IS LIGHTER THAN THE 750 AND FOR WHAT I'VE READ IT ALSO HAS BETTER SUSPENSION.

Not sure how long you've been riding, but the 675 is a triple. the Japs are a 4 cylinder. If you give the 600's another 75cc, it still won't touch a 750! Torque is the name of the game.

600's are only putting out 40+ lbs ft of torque, the 750 is 50+, and the 1K's are at 80+.

Put a fast rider on a fast bike and he'll be fast. Put the same rider on a smaller bike, and he'll still be fast, but can't turn the lap times of a 1K.
Everyone talks about being able to hang with a 1K on the street, but you can only go so fast there. You can't touch it on the track.

The area where the 1K's shine on the street is the usable torque everywhere. You have to drop 2-4 gears on a 600, but on the 1K's you just twist and go! And on the streets, you need that to skirt away from any bad situation quickly.

The Gixxer is the only one of the 1K's that has a long stroke motor. that's why the bottom end is so strong on them
