$414 ticket from HPD?

i just got my first speeding ticket yesterday and the cop said i was going 15 over on 59 around 11pm which I think is bullshit. that and i had no idea my taillights were out. the speeding ticket was $229 and the tail light thing was $185. Another possible factor is my plates are out-of-state. Should I try to fight this in court or should I just pay it?

get a lawyer. hopefully they'll drop your tailight one and give you defensive driving for the 15 over one.

If your eligible for DD or Deferred, just fix the taillight and go to court. If not, Paul Kubosh is a good lawyer for HPD. His office is right across the street from the court house.

Sullo and Sullo attorneys, they cleared up a ton of cases for me and will fight for your cash. Get a lawyer, get a good lawyer. Don't show up to court without one because they will roll over you and put points on your license. Trust me you have to fight everything you can.

Paul Kubosh FTW
Every time I have used him he has never let me down (knocks on wood) and he is relatively cheap about $60 for speeding tickets.

Go to court and ask for deferred adjudication.

why fight it?, get the light repaired, take the receipt for the parts and or labor to court, they will more than likely let that one go, 15 mph isn't a death sentence, go with a good attitude and more than likely it will get defferred. Of course, this all depends on your prior record and heavily on the 'tude displayed as well.

AGREED

well that is if you havent taken it in two years or whatever the requirment is.

An attorney is going to cost you a good amount of money as well and sometimes they can use a trick to get you out, sometimes they can't.... or just won't. Defensive driving is the way to go.

It is only a year now. I know because I am fixing to take it. It will be the 16 or 17th time in my life to do so. I could teach the sucker.

i believe the limit for dd is 10mph over the posted speed limit in houston. i might be wrong though, i say fix the taillight and pay the court fine (around $10-15) and deferred ajudication (3 months probation) for the speeding.

Just do Defensive Driving.

As far as the light, If you fix it, they should dismiss the ticket if the judge is nice.

Don't live in houston, But I think it is 25 mph over anywhere in the state including houston. Anybody know about houston?

Dude I don't know what attorney you had but, most attorneys are relatively. It not like he is trying to get away with murder or a DWI. The most expensive attorney I have ever used cost $200 and this was back when I was 17 and for doing 110mph in a 300zxtt on 45s with out a DL and I was pulled over by a State Trooper. Now you want to talk about bad. If those guys don't show up to court it doesn't get dismissed, all you get is a new court date.
