Most of you probably don't remember a board member here named "Thorn" (his real name was Eric). Long story short, he ran wide on a hill country ride and had an encounter with a steel welded fence/cattle guard. His helmet was a cheap one (Fulmer) and it literally shattered upon impact and he had blown ear drums, etc. Point is, the helmet did it's job and he is still here walking on 's green earth.

I'll be going up again tonight for the 7-7:30 session if anyone wants to join. I'll be riding up there as to avoid the parking gates

it looks sucky for riding. i can pick u up and carpool , is wet out here

i think jetg live closer too

I haven't been on the board for several days, and it sucks to come back and see this happened to you. Heal up soon; you're missed! I'm sick at home with the flu, so I'm pestering Meaner to bring you some Skittles.

I went last night with my buddy. We were the only ones that were there that weren't family. His mom, dad, aunt & uncle were all there(and yes, they are GREAT people ). He was sleeping when we arrived but his mom nudged him and told him he had visitors. He woke up and instantly recognized me said hey and attempted to shake my hand(flipped his over and squeezed when I took it). He passed back out immediately and went back to snoring. They apparantely doped him up pretty good just before we got there. We stayed and spoke with the family a while and pretty much just hung out with Scott while he slept. The nurse went over his injuries with us, she said t9-t11 is pretty fubar'd and he had minor bruising in his brain and some chest difficulties(he has been having trouble swallowing and breathing has been a bit rough), but nothing really to be concerned about besides his back. She was shocked at how well the rest of his body held up. Jimmy, I think his family actually would like his gear, they had asked about it while I was there. Anyways, thinking it was around 7:25 I told his family we would give them some time alone before they kicked us all out at 7:30. I left my email and told them if they need anything they can email me and I will relay it here(they said possibly babysitters<--if he is having trouble and nobody will be home, and rides to doc appointments might be needed). They were extremely grateful for everything everyone has done so far and shocked that he has the kind of support he does. We walked out and the clock said 7:45 and the nurse never even hinted for us to leave.

Just got off the phone with his mother and she said he is doing great today. He is actually moving his head around(big improvement) and they had him laughing and joking.

Can I ask how bad of shape his back is? Any updates that may be spokin? I showed up to the accident scene and never met Scott before but wish for the best.

um i know he needs a brace to help heal it and hes in a lot of pain.... he should be getting the brace soon he was fitted for it. and he will have to wear the brace for 2 to 3 weeks and then go back and get x rays taken to see if hes starting to heal if not then they will prob have to do surgery and put some pins and stuff to help him.

Me and 6 other guys from the Sunday morning ride visited him a couple hours ago. I hated to see him like that but he was in good spirit and kept a smile on his face. We will be doing our best to help him out with anything he shall need. He has a TON of support!
