I've had someone swerve at me before and I wasn't even filtering-I must have not noticed the light turn green fast enough so he sped round me and swerved in front of me very closely not once but twice.

I would essentially interpret that as threatening my life as well as my girlfriend's who was on the back of the bike. At the next light I told her to get off, I put the kickstand down walked up to the window and tried to punch it in-stupid gloves. So I took off a mirror, did some screaming, and kicked every panel in on the side of his car, then I followed him for about 20 minutes while he drove in large circles probably scared shitless. I was lucky I didn't have my gun on me becuase I probably would have broken the window, dragged him out, and kicked his . Just thinking about it makes me angry.

This guy assaulted you with a deadly weapon, bro.

It doesn't matter that you were trying to get around him. Some people on the road have this idea that they are law enforcement. These are the same people that drive 55 in the fast lane and refuse to move over.

I personally would've beat the out of him, but that's just me. Should've at least called the police.

should have taken him up on the offer to call the police and let him explain his actions to them.

You might have gotten a ticket but he would have also and his would have been worse than yours.

Plus, with a record of the situation you could have gone after him for damages to your leg.

If someone hurts you while on the bike or in a car - get the law involved.

Unless this guy has a record, i dont think there is anyway a felony would have stuck. Especially with Cashtown not being "injured" and not actually "wrecking" the bike.
I had a guy turn left in front when i had right of way, then drive off. The guy didnt even come to a complete stop, just rolled out in front of me, i hit him, i went flying through the intersection and he just kept on rolling. Witnesses followed him and the cops locked him up.
Sounds like felony hit and run to me, well what did the courts end up sticking him with? Failure to stop and exchange information.
No felony.

Even if the charges don't stick, isn't there at least a record of investigation? That way when this basket case tries it again and kills somebody, there is a history of it, and he can't claim it was an accident on that one.

but maybe its good he drove off, cause i was not going to be as restrained as Cashtown. I stopped laying face down on the ground, witnesses came up telling me to "stay down" and "not move." I didnt listen, i popped right up and pulled my helmet off with every intention of pounding this guy in the mouth with my lid! Not saying it was the best choice, but it was what I would have done if he had been standing/sitting there.

true.

To that end though, Cashtown can still file a police report after the fact. Being the next day, the cops probably wouldnt be able to press charges on his behalf. Like you said though, it would at least be a matter of public record at that point.

Glad you are Ok. I think I would call the police also. This guy needs to know that type of action will not be tolerated. I would hate to think of what I would have done though.

The wife and I were riding yesterday and this lady on her @#$% cell phone almost ran a red light and would of hit my wife if she were not paying attention herself. I jestered to her to get off of her cell and she just turned her head the other way and acted like she did not even see me. She knew what she did.

I'm worked up now. Too many people think they are King of the Texas road around here, definitely one of my biggest peeves. Time to go chill.

sounds like a good time to make a quick release for the exhaust cans so you could go postal on his a$$.

I've done the mirror thing but that was several years ago, only three times. Lately, people off to just drive by and move the mirror forward(like most do) when they are with you or on the phone. Nothing like making the cell phone pirate take time out of their ride to pull over, get out and move the mirror back over... and as mechanically inclined as most starbucks sippers are today, they'd probably stay on the line and ask the other party if they would brake anything to move it back....

And even with a through-car bluetooth system, you still look crazy; especially with no one else in the car.... Kills me to even try to test these units on our bimmers...

Nice to think of how stupid he is really gonna feel when he gets home and sees what damage he did to his own car.
Sweet revenge!! (Probably the best you could have done, even if it was passive)

I would have taken off his left view mirror also.

This is exactly why I don't "split" lanes - "filtering" is PC????
