Yesterday I was intentionally hit by a car

I posted somewhere, earlier, that this was bound to happen, but I really hadn't anticipated it happening in this way.

I left work yesterday afternoon about 4:30 and headed toward 59 through MacGregor park. Traffic was at a standstill, so I was slowly filtering between the two lanes. I wasn't moving at much more than a walking pace, and traffic was moving at a snail's pace.

I noticed a burgundy Impala about 3 cars ahead of me on my right. As I approached, he suddenly veered into the middle of the lane, partially blocking my path. At first I thought he may have been trying to change lanes, but as I approached, I noticed he was looking at me in his side view mirror. I slowed down even more and then proceeded to slowly pass him on his left.

As I came alongside him, he said, "stop, stop stop! Pull over!" Like he was a cop. I thought, "Oh shife, some detective." I just looked at him and as I passed his driver side door, he said F it, and turned hard to the left and gave 'er some gas - collided with my bike, and pinned my right calf to the frame of the GSX-R. Really, his car stopped with my leg trapped between the bike and his front left quarter panel. It didn't really hurt, but needless to say I was livid!

I knew that I was breaking the law by filtering, but he was also breaking the law by hitting me with his car. So, after he pulled his car back into his own lane and stopped, I looked back to see what kind of witnesses I could have to tell my side of it. None. Houston folks were far more interested in getting home than sticking around.

So, without any witnesses I knew it was his word against mine and he would win that argument, seeing as I was riding illegally. So I jumped off the bike, (in the middle of the street) took off my helmet and did a "once around" the bike to look for damage. I was surprised that there was none, (apparently my calf had taken the brunt of it - but I'm still not bruised too badly today) because his car did have an 18" gouge across the quarter panel - which had apparently been made by my passenger peg.

Noting that there wasn't any damage to my bike, I turned my attention to the in the Impala. He knew immediately that he had F'ed up. He got really apologetic and claimed that he was trying to swerve to miss me, which was obvious BS and he knew as well as I did that neither one of us believed that. I had the old adrenal gland working overtime at this point, so I went off on him through his car window. He politely declined my invitation to step out of the car. He rolled the window up and said that we could pull up to the gas station if I wanted to call the cops.

I gave him a couple more choice words and got back on the bike and went on my way. After I got his plate number.

I still can't believe that he actually hit me with his car. Had this happened a few years ago, I'd be sitting in jail this morning waiting to bail out on an assault charge.

I've punched out a few mirrors in my time to get the attention of drivers who were close to running me over.

I'm only surprised that you're surprised. People in cars (or people just generally) try to hit other cars, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians all the time.

People do stupid things all the time. Remember the woman who set fire to an office building and killed several people just because she had not completed a payroll audit.

HAHA, there was a time when I would have blocked someone with my car if they were filtering like that, but wouldnt have ever tried hitting them with my car. Nice to think of how stupid he is really gonna feel when he gets home and sees what damage he did to his own car.

While the idea of smashing him in the mouth through his window was pretty appealing, it didn't help that there were about sixty car loads of people behind us.

Sadly, those days are behind me.

I could have called the cops, but what would be the likely result? I would surely get a ticket for failure to maintain a lane and all he has to say is that he didn't see me filtering and that I collided with him.

It sucks, but it's his word against mine and I was admittedly in the wrong to begin with.

If he'd wanted to get out of the car it would have been on like Donkey Kong, but I can't just go around assaulting people at my age.

**** that dude. I've got LP#

He came about a foot and a half or more across the center line to hit me. He hit me hard enough to push the bike sideways a couple of inches.

I'm really surprised that there wasn't more damage to the bike (Gixxer FTW!)

When I got home I did find a small dent-gash on the Yosh pipe, but nothing too noticeable - and it's surely not a show bike by any means.

Maybe so, but as you said, he was motioning and telling you to stop. That's intent right there. That, IMO, should be a frickin' felony!

I was !

When I say I gave him some choice words, you have to use your imagination. I did everything I could while not committing a crime.

Definitley a felony. That's the first thing I told him before I noticed he was a complete puss and wasn't ready to stand by what he'd done.

Aggravted assault w/ a deadly weapon or some such.

But like I said, his word against mine.
