Student loans suck....any loans suck...Fill out the FAFSA and see what you qualify for. Chances are they'll give a stafford loan, credit is a non factor on stafford loans. I did scholarships for undergrad and didn't get a loan till grad school and regretted it. Mine was for 7k and it was stupid to get one for such a small amount.

yup. Won't help you right at this second, but FAFSA.org for future semesters. Depending on your age and income, you'll eventually qualify for grants as well, which you don't have to repay.

I got 40k left to pay from my MBA education. Sucks, but it is locked at a rediculously low rate and I pay little more than interest for a couple more years. Waaaay better than a credit card!

I did the Stafford loans and had around $15k when I graduated... my parents paid the rest.

It's been pretty decent and haven't really had any problems with them. The interest rate is ok... should have them paid off in a few months!

when you get the loans, get a co-signer and then consolidate the loans after you graduate. you can save about 50% if you do sonce the interest is what kills most people.

you can always get a private loan. for the federal, i think you may be late. for fafsa you need to start early.

fafsa isnt a loan but a grant aka free money. you wont get alot to pay for everything depending on your income. i think average is around $3k per semester.

best bet is to ask your school who they do the most business with because if you run into any problems, help wont be hard to find.

OK, investment wizards I have a question. Lets say you don't need the money for school loans but get it anyway. What are the rates? I wouldn't mind getting 20k at low interest rate and letting it sit in my mutual fund for a few years while I go to school. Then I can pay it back later and keep the interest.

gonna look into that fafsa thing too!

they give the money to the school not you. if you have any left over the school can cut you a check for the rest.

rates range from 3.9 to 13.5 but can go higher if you default.
